I need to check the stator and VR on my ULY ( getting interment low voltage) The manual says to set your meter to RX1 my Craftsman multi meter doesn't have this setting. Any idea what setting I would use? |

Beats me what RX1 is supposed to mean. I would suggest putting yours on at the 20V range and clip it right to the battery. Do you think the RX1 corresponds to some test point on a chart in your book? |

RX1 means resistance times 1 (no multiplier). RX10, RX100... You would multiply the reading by 10 or 100... These setting were usually on analog meters. Most digital meters, now, will pick the range. If you have a choice, pick a low resistance (OHMs) range (for RX1). Resistance testing would be done with component disconnected from circuit (no power) |

General rule for using a volt/ohm meter: When measuring voltage select a range greater than what is expected. Resistance is opposite select the lowest range. And as Arry said test resistance with circuit disconnected. And do check the component for a short to ground. |
