Does anyone know where (or even if) you can buy a spurgin oil cooler kit?

Well it is essentially a sporster engine.
I think you would only have to be creative in the mounting.
Are the spurgin the ones with the thermostat?

Yeah I inquired on the AShydrulic website a while back. No response.

I think Lockhart still makes a cooler kit with a thermostat.
They ARE proud of it tho.

Is thermostat necessary?

It is. You only want the cooler to operate if the oil is over a certain temperature. Cold oil is bad.

Do the stock XB units have a thermostat built in?

Nope and not necessary because engine is closed in the frame

Presumably lack of air flow around the engine.
Makes you wonder whether a stock tube frame bike really benefits from an oil cooler.

Generally I don't think oil coolers are necessary on a Sporty engine at all. Exceptions if you live in one of those parts of the world not intended for human habitation (The Gobi desert, Arizona)

In other parts of the world suited for human habitation, if your bike is running so hot as to need a cooler, your timing and/or fuel mix is way off...

But, we do love our farkles. Do be sure to install it properly, so as to not have it lose all your engine oild and they kill your motor, as was described in another thread here recently.

Funny thing is oil coolers only work while moving and you only need them when sitting still.

I've got the Jazz cooler on my x1, but I also have one of the last Eurocomponents fairings that was ever built, so trying to keep the oil cool with the lack of air around the motor.

I like it more for the looks than for the purpose. 180 degrees is what we shoot for in piston aircraft. We put controllable baffle kits over the oil cooler for winter ops. Below 180 and the moisture doesn’t boil out and the oil looks like mud on the change. No dice on finding one for sale.
