XB9 = Dave Leppellmeier was in Deal's Gap last week with CORE (Central Ohio Riding Enthusiasts). I'm a CORE member but couldn't make the trip. Another CORE member that I don't know also was in an accident. No one is giving out details right now. (Note: Dave L's name on the CORE forum is XB9fog) Here is what has been posted at the CORE forum http://p210.ezboard.com/bcore74332: quote:Out of respect for Dave and Brian, I asked that the threads be taken down. It may sound silly to some of you, but I'm not going to explain just know it was a good wish that I asked for. Brian (burgboy73): I spoke with him last night and he is doing much better but was still in the hospital in Bryson City, TN. He has a broken wrist and come to find out on top of the "puncture" in his bum, his hip is fractured. We found out how the "puncture" happened and it was because he landed so hard on his buttbone that that buttbone is what caused the 4" gash in his rear. He's moving around and should be getting out of the hopsital today and riding home in a van with his wife and father and a few other family members that came to see him. He will be slow going for awhile and as he allows I will keep you updated. Dave (xb9fog): He has several broken and fractured ribs, a broken clavical and hit his head pretty good. The first day was really rough but Kathy and Ralph said he sounded like his old self the next morning on the phone. He should be getting out of the hospital in Chattanooga (sp) today or tomorrow if he hasn't gotten out already. His wife and father-in-law drove over night to get there early Sunday. (the accident was Sat afternoon). He'll be riding in a van to get home. Slow going but I know he will be okay. Just like Dave to ask how his bike was. He thinks the scratches on the frame will get it totalled so he can turn it into a race bike. I am very happy that he is going to be okay, just needs time to get there through healing. Both of them were in as best of spirits that could be based on their situation. Edited by: ninjagirl219 at: 5/17/04 11:07 am
I wish I could post more but that's about all I know right now. I thought BadWebbers needed to know about this and I didn't see anyone else post anything about Dave. The most up to date info will be posted at CORE, so you might want to check out the link above. There are links to pics of Brian's bike which went up in flames. I didn't see pics of Dave's bike. Ride Safely everyone. Mike. |

This was posted by Dave on the board mentioned above. Sounds like he's going to be okay. KCFirebolt Re: gap -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to all for your concern. I got out of the hospital in Chattanooga Monday morning, got home late Monday night. I have 4 broken ribs and a broken right clavical (it will match the left one that I broke years ago!)I hit a cat that darted out into my path in a turn on Rt 60 north of Suches, GA. Took the front wheel out from under me, not much I could do to avoid it. I'm up and about, not feeling too bad actually. Sunday I was in a world of hurt though. The Buell isn't too bad, although they may total it cause the frame is damaged, but it is ridable. I feel pretty lucky, and am really thankful for the gear I had on (full leathers, back protector, and an Arai helmet). The good gear really saved me. Just can't wait to get on the bike again! And I hope Brian is doing better. |

Thanks for posting that Kcfirebolt. You beat me to it. Dave is a prime example of riding smart and wearing full protective gear. I bet he is back riding real soon. Wonder what his new bike will be??? Mike. |

Another XB9R, silly! Dave's a great guy, and a hoot to try to follow. I gave up after a little while...he may be an old fart but he's got years of track experience behind him! LOL Get well soon, guys! |
