I have a 1997 M2 with the stock CV carburetor. Was wondering if anyone has changed to a different carb, and results? Mikuni HSR 42 comes up when I search. Looks to be a good option, but wondering what the electrical lead coming out of my current carb does and what happens if you delete it? |

Have an HSR42 on my 2000 M2. Really like the carb. It's a flat slide design. Quick throttle response. I think the electrical lead you are describing is the VOES meter. If so, you'll want to keep that. |

I have had the following combinations on a 2002 M2; #1 stock carb* and stock exhaust #2 stock carb* with race exhaust #3 HSR 42 carb and stock exhaust #4 HSR 42 carb with race exhaust *reworked per Buellistic's instructions If you want a more immediate, aggressive throttle response and value top end over low RPM operation, #4 is for you. #1 is the ticket if you want smooth throttle response and strong low and mid-range torque. This is the set up I liked best for riding on wet twisty roads in the Northwest. #2 Louder exhaust but performance was not improved enough to justify the racket. #3 Immediate throttle response and strong low and mid-range. This is a great dry pavement set up but less so for the wet. #4 Immediate throttle response and stronger power in the upper RPM ranges.*(However, this set up really benefits from X-1 or S-3 cams to get the full benefit from the HSR 42 and Buell Race exhaust.) |

Hey I really appreciate the advice! I forgot to mention I have the Buell Race air cleaner and Vance and Hines muffler. Stock header. I bought the bike new and intend to keep it until it is a collectors item, lol. |

The thing I never liked about the HSR is the on/off "light switch" throttle response. I much prefer a properly-built CV40 for real world riding. That's the way my S2 is set up - with thunderstorm top end and X1 cams, with stock exhaust - my M2, stock motor with full Buell race exhaust and intake; and my S1W, stock motor and full Buell race kit including exhaust, intake, and ignition. All docile, all excellent performers with no hiccups, and good power throughout the rev band. |

You can moderate the throttle? They're all light switches to Hammy McFisty! |

The Super G on the 90" I just bought says, "Gee, I wonder what throttle modulation is like". Now it says nothing, since I found a spun cam bearing... |

Hammy McFisty worked well on the early injected bikes that were prone to the odd hiccough. When I first rode my HSR equipped S2, the only other Buell I had ridden was an early X1 - I thought there was a problem with the suspension because of all the fore/aft pitching! |

Yep, I like to be ABLE to modulate my throttle. If I WANT it to behave like a light switch, I can do that with my hand. Just more of a twist. But in real-world riding...I do it extremely rarely. I prefer a smooth, gradual build of power that is in proportion (there's the key right there) to how much I've twisted the grip. |

----I never liked the on/off "light switch" throttle response.---- these bikes are jerky enough. i don't see the point of trying to get more top-end out of a torque motor designed for low rpm? the torque is the fun part. i love just moving out from a stop-light leaving everyone behind... the jap bikes are the kings of top-end and there is little point trying to compete.} |

Is there a two-cable Harley version of a quarter-turn throttle available? The diaphragm carb might slightly reduce the suddenness but still allow reaching full throttle quickly. |

I’d put in a CV Performance kit and see if that makes you more happy. https://cv-performance.com/cvp-harley-carb-deluxe- tuners-kit |

I am just saying there is nothing wrong with the cv. Easybto mod and work on. Mine has been bullet proof! |

I put a https://cv-performance.com/cvp-harley-carb-deluxe- tuners-kit on my S2, made a very nice difference. Also no more coughing through the carb. I also put a Mikuni HSR 42 on my Harley, it works well too, but a lot more money. I converted it from EFI, otherwise I'd have just installed a kit in the stock carb like the Buell. |

I have woods cams and matching carb he modifies and I’m just thrilled. It runs as you would expect a well sorted out combo should. |
