I've been fortunate to have spent some time driving the backroads of the Cariboo region of BC lately (not so fortunate as to have put those same kilometers on the Uly though!). If someone is looking for a destination I can't recommend this area enough. Beautiful winding two lane pavement, gravel, some mud, a bit of snow even. Varied scenery, wildlife, endless camping opportunities. I've driven the west side of the Fraser River between Quesnel and Soda Creek/Williams Lake, the Well's/Barkerville highway and the backroad from Barkerville to Likely. Quesnel Forks, and the 13 km drive in, is well worth the detour and has a recreation site beside the river with fire pits and picnic tables and cold fast flowing river water to chill beverages. The forest service road between Likely and Horsefly shouldn't be missed. Cattle country, canyons, old barns and machinery. Few people. If someone has the opportunity and wants to know what they can expect get in touch.

Never ridden in Canada (drove to Alaska in 1970), but have had this dream of riding to the Great Slave Lake (uh, from New Mexico). Your description just whets my appetite. Thanks! --Doc P.S. I may in fact contact you with questions... |

Dr. greg! Good to see you back on the XB board. I've followed your exploits on ADV, always good reading. Did you ever get that sudden stalling on the GS (WODEN?)sorted out. |

Sorry for the delay...been on a car trip w/Mrs. Greg. Anyway, yes, I check BWB just about every day; will never shake the Uly Syndrome. Been havin' digestive problems; had to cancel my April and June trips...bummer. Gettin' old is tough. May take a Fall trip to western NC, Ride Report will be on ADVrider.com as usual. The '16 GSA "limp mode" problem seems to be fixed (S/W update), but it's impossible to prove a negative. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but Motomac asked. --Doc |
