Hello, I tried ECMSPY today and it said I have a BUE2D ECU. ECMSPY lists that as a 1125R ECU. I'm confused. Dont wanna get the wrong ECU DB and chuck 70 dollars. What ECUs are in your 08 XB12X or XB12XT? |

All 2008-2010 fuel injected Buells use the same ECM, they just uploaded the right maps and such for your bike after it is installed. My 08 XT, 08 1125R, and 09 1125CR all have the BUE2D firmware. |

Just get whatever map you need that matches the BUE2D firmware. It isn't an 'application' thing, and even Harley could have upgraded the firmware in your stock ECM at one point. Froggy is right, again |

Thank you. Armed with that knowledge I just downloaded the DB for the BUE2D from ECMSPY. |

Fernus, How'd it go? I'm hoping to update my fan settings to the most current update on the 08 XB's. I called the dealer to see if they can just do the update for me and they are "checking into it" and may get back to me. I can't afford a $300 ECM from IDS, and don't really want to spend the $200 plus down time for their reprogramming service... so I'm stuck with trying to do it myself or having the HD dealership muddle through IF they are willing. Thanks in advance. |

You don't need to re-program the whole ECM for fan settings. It is VERY easy to use ECMDroid to change them without any fuel map changing. |

Coolness, I'll start looking for the ECMDroid software then. I have a cable I made for my previous XB. (Message edited by littlebuggles on May 07, 2018) |

ECMDroid doesn't communicate with the ECM via a cable. It uses a bluetooth connection like a wireless speaker. You can get that dongle from Buelltooth.com. They have instructions on how to use it too. |

Littlebuggles, It went well. I was able to read my error codes, test my fan and view the live data. With that said I still haven't updated anything. I was hoping that changing the spark plugs and cleaning the throttle body would correct the cough but it has not. |

Thanks Fernando. Shoggin, ...as an Apple user, I have to invest nearly as much to use ECMDroid (purchase of a compatible Android device + Buelltooth dongle) as I would to send in my EMC and get the "race" maps for my bike programmed by IDS. Oh well, guess this is going to cost me, one way or another |

Littlebuggles, do you know what firmware your ECM has? Without the later firmware (ie: BUE2D) you won't be able to enable speed-based fan logic. If you have the cable already, a less expensive option would be to find a disused old laptop to run XP or Vista on. Or, if you're adventurous, you could try running Tunerpro or ECMSpy in a virtual PC. |

2008 Uly, I don’t know any more than that, except stock muffler with K&N intake. I had ecmspy on my old computer, but the screen drivers got corrupted and I haven’t been able to transfer the memory to a hard drive due to crappy screen issues. I also thought ecmspy was no good on the 08+ bikes, never knew how to tweak fan settings on that software either. |

You may not like the factory fan "race" settings either. With the Buelltooth ($45?) and android phone (My cell provider wants to give me 4 of them, i'm sure yours will too, or burners are around $40. With that you now have the capability to change the fan temp settings, un-check "speed based fan control", have a powerful diagnostic tool, and the satisfaction of doing the job yourself. FYI, with your DDFI-3 ('08-up) ecm you can also enable quickshift and have a sweet clutchless upshifts with just the purchase of a sensor. |

Now you're talking me into it with the burner phone idea... my several years old tablets don't have compatible os's for the current droid ap according to google play or something to that effect. Thanks for the excellent idea(s) Shoggin! |

No worries Mate. It's so much easier to datalog with a phone in your pocket, that a laptop/cable/backpack. Welcome to 2002! |

So I found an android phone on sale ($29) at the Kroger store and got it all going, so much more comfortable crossing town when the fan runs, and I don't get the searing fiery heat pushing past the frame and seat to the inside of my leg! I had to tweak the fan temp setting a bit to make it right, can't uncheck the speed based fan setting box for whatever reason, but I just worked around that a bit and it's much better. Got the exhaust valve turned back on too, it was turned off, I guess due tot he Jardine, but with the stock muffler functioning it's running nicely now! |
