You beat me to it, Hugh! I am curious about the idea of mounting the motor inside the rear wheel hub, though. That seems counter to his typical "Trilogy of Tech" philosophy of reducing unsprung weight. Since it's not a high-performance model, maybe he figures the trade-off worth it? In any event, Zero and Energica won't feel threatened by this announcement yet. It IS nice to see they are looking at PRACTICAL motorcycles and not "Pie in the Sky" performance machines like Curtiss, Lightning, or Mugen. (Message edited by jaimec on April 09, 2018) | ||

I see Erik is going the way of the late Michael Cszysz; the future is in electrics. It's just a damned shame no one carried on Michael's work after his passing. That e1PC he used to dominate the Isle of Man had some VERY interesting technology in it. Unlike Michael, though, Erik and his crew is actually looking at building a practical bike that we may all be able to afford. I like that even better than building expensive exotica. | ||

PS: I'm secretly (well, maybe not "secretly") hoping that whatever they come out with sells two or three TIMES as many units as Harley's LiveWire (or whatever they'll end up calling it).  | ||

I haven't seen any news regarding Erik's latest venture in awhile. With Harley FINALLY taking orders on the Livewire, and Zero teasing a new, updated model for 2020 (the SR/F) this would be a good time to hear what Erik has been up to. |
