Hi... getting ready to change the oil and filter. Amsoil 20W-50 V-Twin oil and the EAOM134 filter. Last filter I had was the EAOM135. The only difference is the 135 does not have the Anti Drain Back Valve. How important is it???? I have had this filter on for several years. Thanks. |

I just don't like the potential dry-start scenario, especially on a dry-sump engine. Sure it's only for a split-second, but multiply that by however many starts in a month or in a year... |

Isn't the filter on the return line to the tank? It is on my ironhead. I just assumed it was "the way it is". |

Filter is on the feed circuit, after the pump and prior to feeding any engine components. |

someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the oil check valve on Buell's is behind the oil adapter where you screw on the oil filter. |

Thanks for the replies. I believe the Big Twin Harley's up to 1999 used to have the oil filter on the return side and did not need the Anti Back Flow Valve, that is why Amsoil offers the EaOM135. Looking at the FSM the Sportster engine obviously needs one.
