I put on the 12r airbox, and cleaned my filter. thats all i can think of that i have done to the bike.

Your tires have a smaller diameter when you lean it over a long ways. Enough distance would affect your fuel mileage.

Just kidding... You got me. I think the least distance I have ever gone before I got the light was about 107. That was about 40% or so twisty roads in second and third gear. Did you take a longer trip on a good stretch of road on that tank?

Possible reason assuming you have enough miles on the bike (I have about 4500 and am guaranteed 100 miles on my XB9R):

Tire pressure is low creating drag (handling will be affected too)

Plugs are dirty

Brakes may be dragging? (roll with bike not running to see if you hear excessive brake noise or it is much harder to push)

More time spent accelerating instead of cruising

You say the filter was cleaned...I assume this was a K&N...cleaning the stocker is not a good idea

Timing is off (but not likely)

Mookie: my guess is short trips in the cooler weather of a Michigan spring. Bike doesn't get to it's optimum (fuel efficent) operating temperature. It brings my MPG down.

124 miles on the trip when my low fuel light came on yesterday. I put in 2.59 gallons. FWIW : )

110-125 miles is what I get and my fillup is about 2.45 to 2.65 gallons. Sounds about on par to me...45 MPG.

Im gonna go with the plugs idea.

I didnt take my battery out this winter so i started it on and off and i think maybe i may have fouled them.

and interesting note is a guy i was speaking with that has an r6 said he is experiencing the same thing though.

my filter was the race kit.

I will think about the full throttle thing but i have been doing some cruising with the same results.

Im unable to do wheelies at the moment due to Im trying to make my balls larger but it takes time.

I ride my bike exactly how it says to ride it in the manual and would never do anything to compromise my warranty. I also love the people at american harley davidson like family! :redflip

Mookie, my low fuel light has come on as early as 90 miles as well. I thought it might be because of the fuel sensor being faulty. The next time it comes on that early go fill up right away. That way you'll know exactly how much was left in your frame when the light came on.

If you are riding that thing just like the "manual" says you can't be havin much fun.

Have you dropped a grade when purchasing gas?
It's tempting with these gas prices...

heh...I pulled 135 miles on a tank once...it was 65mph freeway riding. 55mph stretch with traffic at 65. Otherwise I have gotten as low as 85 to a tank, hamfisted canyon running, but average between 105-125 before the light comes on depending on cruising speed.

Shoot, even when I really, really hammer mine I get at least 120 before the low fuel light comes on. On the slab on the waay home from the NE Tour I managed to get 190 miles out of a tank - over 45 miles on the reserve, and trust me, it was on fumes! I was all tucked in and about 2' off the bumper of the car in front of me (who thankfully wasn't a jackass about it) trying to stretch it out to the next station!

This saturday I went to the mountains and the first tank I got 137 at the light, the second tank got me to 135 at the light. This is what I usually get, so, if my light came on a 90, I'd e worried enough to take it to have it looked at.

i got 79 miles yesterday when i had to refill.

I have replaced the spark plugs and hope that for some reason that improves it.

I don't own an XB, but that kind of mileage compare to what others are getting would scare me. I would worry about unburnt fuel washing the oil off the cylinder walls. Maybe I'm way off here...
