Here's the setup: XB12S with Drummer, stock ECM. I had to leave the interactive muffler actuator motor on board and connected, because removing it caused the stock ECM to smell trouble, and illuminate the MIL (check engine lamp). thanks to OPTO- engineering, i can now remove the useless servo motor device from under the airbox cover. Opto designed A simple circuit using 2 resistors and a diode, very compact, passive, and keeps the ECM happy. brief description is take apart 3 pin connector to left of battery. Tan/violet wire 900 ohm resistor to ground. orange wire to anode of diode, cathode of same to 1000 ohm resistor, and resistor to white wire. i used a 3 pin weatherpack connector salvaged from a sportster speedo cable (wire). so now my xb is a pound lighter. thanks opto it works great. dean |

I'm assuming that this is a fix for running the Stock ECM only? I have the race ECM and the actuator motor is gone,,no engine light yet. |

Jason you won't have to worry about the light coming on.Fullpower....Why go through the headache to lose a pound.I can lose that pound on the toilet. So the motor is there and its still running but it doesn't have to do anything and its not like its visable to the eye for everyone to see?? |

bads1/jasonxb12s/fullpower Is there and advantage to one or the other ecm? aside from their relationship to the actuator |

Hey Torqer.. I really don't have a reference point of comparison since I switched to the race ECM when I changed to the Drummer. Nevertheless, I am very pleased with the overall performance of the bike. I did encounter a fouled front plug soon after installation but everything is hunky-dorey now with approx 1300 miles on the bike with the set up. |
