I too am repulsed by a culture that embraces slavery. Despite that,I'm going to skirt the line of good taste about the burka graphic, mainly to point out evil oppression taken to the point of stupidity. Presuming true the caption they are being sold like cattle in this photo, ( because I doubt any country where burkas are commonplace would allow female criminal offenders to live long enough to be in a chain gang), we can also safely assume for what purpose they are being sold. I would have thought that the "buyers" would want a little more, (well let's call it disclosure), on what they are bidding on. I had a lot of buyer beware analogies, some darkly funny. But all of them would de-value the unfortunate women in this photo more than I'm willing to post. | ||

Don't worry about deceptive sales practices in the sex slave trade. Those victims are covered up in public but stripped to show off the assets on the block. My reaction to the slavery business involves thoughts like "bathed in fire" and "with utter lack of respect for any religion that mandates slavery in disposal of the corpses", among other things. I certainly don't oppose Islam because of the hospitality laws. It's simply that I am completely intolerant of slavery. We could have a discussion on the difference between slavery and marriage in American tradition and how femlib- professional victim studies definition of male-female sex as rape all surround the insanity of human sexuality. But a simplistic version is if you are deprived of freedom of choice it is a bad thing is easy enough to agree on. When you are chained to prevent escape and sold unwillingly, that's obvious. Real. Happening today. When a 13 year old girl is given in marriage to her 54 year old uncle? Seems obvious to me. When she objects then her father tortures her to death, it's certain. When her mother objects to her husband being punished for disciplining her daughter? That's an evil culture. ( a real example. In this country. In Pakistan there'd be no arrest and trial for that murder. ) In consolation, I'll be dead before Sharia is law here. | ||

Maybe you need to change your's? ( I doubt that ) The old ways, protect the weak, valor in battle, loyalty to the King. Works. I'm an American, so I don't care about any King, my loyalty is to the ideals that replaced a monarch, that government is by our consent and is us. The protect the weak part is pretty universal.
