Author Message   Ontheroad68 Posted on Sunday, March 18, 2018 - 08:31 pm:        Going through my still new-to-me 2008 Uly and changed the plugs today. I put in some NGK Iridium's, I've had good luck with those in other vehicles. Here is a pic of the plugs I removed, the lighter plug is from the rear. Clearly the burn is not the same on these cylinders. I'm also getting about 33mpg at the moment so I'm hoping to find a fix. Thoughts?   Etennuly Posted on Sunday, March 18, 2018 - 11:01 pm:        Yeah. Front plug is fouled. Put in new plugs and ride it. Do not start the bike with out intent to ride it. These are actually high performance engines. A few cold starts can kill the plugs. It happened a lot in dealership showrooms with new bikes. I'll wager those new plugs will bake it run a great deal better. Both my fuel injected Buells have always had a good deal of difference between the front and back plug. My 2008 gets low to mid 40's MPG. How much idle during warm-up do you spend? How much fan time is spent on? If you have the resources, run a data log and see what your sensors are telling the ecm. My clt is slow To heat up and quick to cool off. Seeing a lot of cold start enrichment with this system for short rides. Throw a spot of cooler weather in and it becomes worse.
