Ignorance of the law, and lack of intent are exculpable conditions only if you are a member of the ruling class. I would be in jail already. Actually, I'd have been in jail, seen a judge, and been out on bail already pending my conviction. Justice is swift for the little folks.
This is a case of there are so many confusing gun laws, it's almost impossible to not break the law unless you are very up to date on gun laws. Like a lawyer that specializes in gun laws. Sadly, this is from someone who wants more laws that will most likely just add confusion. We really are at a point where trying to destroy a gun (and pretty well doing just that) becomes a felony. It's a shame she can't step back for a second and consider what she is doing.
I really wonder what these people that scream about an AR-15 would do if they ever became aware of what an AR-10 is. Their heads would likely explode! Thankfully 10 is less than 15 so it stays off the radar for the moment. One of the best shooting .30 caliber rifles I've shot BTW. I do have limited rifle experience though.
The Garand is another great increase in lethality. The M-14s in armories around the world got pulled back into service by various special units wanting the heavier power to shoot through the concrete block construction popular in Iraq. Kept quiet mostly by the Pentagon since they did not want the press asking stupid questions like "did we go backwards by going to a varmint cartridge? " and knowing that the press was too ignorant to ask the right questions.
Answer. No. The 5.56 is in the logical progression dating from the military going from a .65" to .54 .50 .45 6mm ( oops ) .30 .30 .30 5.56....... ( I've skipped a few )
A .45-70 Marlin would terrify the press if you did the demo right. Cast torsos of ballistic gel, like in the Weapons comparison shows. Shoot hard cast round nose bullets through 4-6 dummies in a row. Announce that proves one bullet can kill six people. Watch freak out.
Then let someone use a compound bow with field points. Top it all off with "switch blade" deer points on balloons full of red paint..... close up on "blood" pouring down steps.
Whatever you do don't let them see a Samurai movie. That'll be it for pocket knives.
My favorite people lately are the "I'm a gun guy, but..." No. No you're not. We can either have 'em all or have none. It's bad enough we've been getting progressively and incrementally screwed for 84 years...especially in 1934 and again in 1986.
The only NFA classification I agree with is destructive device.
After target shooting with 9's, 5.56, 22's and 7.62's I pulled out the Marlin 44 magnum lever action rifle. One shot went through the target and blew the bark off the tree. The target floated to the ground in pieces. The bullet went through a total of 11 inches of wood. I have used this on concrete blocks too and it is impressive, much more than a 7.62!
I did not know enough about it to do anything but sight it in and fire it though. Field strip for qualifications, but not the history or intricate details.
There was another rifle others were using, but I can't remember the model. (Navy ~1983)
In 1982(USN) we had .45 ACP, Remington 870 Pump 12 ga and M-14 30 cal semi. That's what I qualified for SAT/BAF for duty days. 90 shots, 90 holes(missed a head shot but hit with a wad from the 870)
OK, that's not right The 12 ga was 9 pellet 00 buckshot and one wad broke the target. Missed one head shot with the .45. Anyway, that's what we had in 1982
I felt the same way about my M16A2. It felt like there was nothing I couldn't hit with it. All easy expert quals until I got handed a crappy one that one time. The Colt of my own I purchased during the time, was of course better...mainly through not having suffered through years of rough handling and abuse.
My M9 I was almost equally enamored with. Quals were a little tougher, though I still eeked in expert scores. I had almost forgotten what a fine gun it was until I got my own 92FS.
Military hardware indeed. That's what it's all about. It's what it's always been about.
I kinda miss having my own .50BMG. Lugging such rifles around is burdensome, but they're so rewarding to shoot.
We spent an entire day shooting the hell out of Remington 870's using 00 buckshot. That bayonet adapter everyone goes nuts about came loose on every single one. The ejectors ripped out of all of them as well. I suspect whoever rebuilt them did not stake them properly. I was the last one left shooting one, as when there was ammo left over for any training evolution it was my duty to consume it. I resorted to turning the shotgun on its side to facilitate ejection. Good times.
......not having suffered through years of rough handling and abuse.
That's a fact . . . . we used to get stuff that was so ragged you could shake them and they'd rattle. I banged up a perfect score in my Expert quals and then ended up almost unable to hit an APC with a red phosphorous tracer with the crap they gave me for night infiltration maneuvers.
The only NFA classification I agree with is destructive device.
I disagree. I fired 700 rounds of 40mm out of an M-203 one afternoon. Got to where I could drop them into a hatch on top of a tank at 100 meters from the hip. Remove the entire NFA.
All manner of explosives and explosive devices are already regulated. It would only be consistent.
Besides, repealing the NFA is largely fantasy. I'd be happy with just just the Hughes Amendment being repealed. Suppressors and short barrels being regulated is silly. "Any other weapon" is a silly category altogether...but I'm just a guy with an opinion.
I'm good with you having det. cord. Your neighbors might object if you don't give them a heads up beforehand. I suggest a pizza party/tree removal. Keep everyone well back and leave the dogs inside.
My neighbors have no problem with me shooting off fireworks as long as I tell them ahead of time so the dog can be kept inside. ( I'm closer to the dog than I am them. He runs through the invisible fence & I bring him home a couple of times a year )
Virtue signaling about something they're clueless about aside from propaganda points and demonizing those you disagree with is so much more productive.
This spring there should be a march in D.C. to surrender all guns.
No one should bring any.
See if we can get Ted Nugent to play an illegal concert in the Mall, & give everyone trash bags to collect all the trash & leave it at the Capitol.
I wonder how much it would cost to have bags printed? Kristallnacht, Never Again? I'm trying to avoid stuff threatening like Fertilize the Tree or Cold Dead Hands. Thoughts?
