Bueller up! (Now there's a change of pace, eh... ) Ok, I had prommissed to come back and report on my travails thru my HD service department. Previous thread has dropped off radar and I don't recall which one it was, so here is anew. Lakeshore Harley, Liberyville. I gotta say it went well. Some of you tubers were noting bad experiences in the past. I was treated politely (bordering on enthusiasm on occasion) on the phone with all of my inquiries during the wait for parts & servicing. Encountered a CYA mood now and then - normal, but would have rather had them simply say "I don't know - I'll get back to you on that"... But that's just bedside manners. Parts. Only took a week or two longer than "I had hoped/expected". One part was received damaged and had to be re-ordered. One was held up in shipping (mirror). Thanks go out to DaveS for the foresight to have a couple of sets of mirrors ordered for us for when we get up to Appleton on this saturday - I drove up and picked them up and hand delivered them to my shop (were the last pieces needed to complete the repair). Note - To others waiting on parts, as I understood, the HDNet does not check inventories of other dealerships, so it is worth the effort to call around to see if someone else happens to have a part on hand. What really counts - the bike. Looks like new! It was cleaned. Nothing wrong or out of place. Special requests I had made were all remembered and addressed. John, the mechanic, spent time with me afterwards to adjust all levers and suspension. Without regard to cost (and what can you do about that?), I am happy slash satisfied. The only bad thing to note, is that I was allowed to drive it home to begin with (at time of purchase) without assistance in setting up the suspension & checking the tire pressures. No one knew or took time to stress the importance of getting the suspension right and the tires were under-pressured by about 10-12 lbs. At this point, I'm not trying to place blame. I just wish there was a way to get the word out to all dealerships that it is a touchy bike and an incorrect setup will almost certainly lead to an accident. I followed the midline book settings for my weight and it just made things worse...

"Note - To others waiting on parts, as I understood, the HDNet does not check inventories of other dealerships, so it is worth the effort to call around to see if someone else happens to have a part on hand." That, as Court would say, is inaccurate. I can tell you what dealers in the whole country have a certain part by looking on HDnet. It's not alway 100% right but it is on there. It's called a "parts locater" They have the same system for bikes. Anyway, I'm glad I was able to help you out with the mirrors. See you Sat. Next time you're at Lakeshore say hi to Ponytail Kevin for me. Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com

"Note - To others waiting on parts, as I understood, the HDNet does not check inventories of other dealerships, so it is worth the effort to call around to see if someone else happens to have a part on hand." Not all dealers are on HDnet, especially the closest and largest PRO Buell dealer, so the original statement is correct/accurate Hey Dave, ever seen parts at IL Harley, i didnt think so later Roger |

All dealers have access to HDnet. If they have a computer and internet. I can access HDnet from my house or apartment(I do it all the time). You don't have to be on the HD Talon system. I have never been to Lakeshore or Il Harley. Dave |

Il HD/Buells bikes are on HDnet but I couldn't find any parts? I guess you are right Roger. I wonder why their parts aren't on there? Dave |
