While fixing mouse chewed rear flashers wires I see what looks like a fusible link on each wire going to each rear turn signals. The mouse chewed some links open and 3/4 wires off at the links. Do I need the links or can I rewire without them?
Services will not be held for the mouse on account his carcass was tossed after his last meal.
This happened in the middle of my other wire problem.

Fusbile link? or just the rubber around the plug connectors?

Yea I'm thinking you are just seeing the bullet connectors, if all it ate was the sheath, then perhaps some heatshrink and electrical tape is all you would need.

Yep they are the connectors. He did chew the wires in two at some of the bullet crimps. The one I found before I disassembled the tail had been chewed off and didn't look like a connector. It looked like a silver cylinder until I pulled it apart. What type of connector would you use to repair them? Or would I be better off with solder and shrink tube.

Unless you plan to disassemble the rear section just splice them together with some heat shrink. Solder or crimp should not matter. They are out of the weather pretty much. You can just cut them if you need remove them later.

I'm with Etennuly. Pretty much anything would do the trick, I'd do whatever is most convenient for you. It is unlikely you will need to replace the signals other than a crash, so simply soldering and heatshrinking them together would be fine.

Yep going to cut and solder them. The only danger in there is Mickey Mouse. Going to box up some mothballs and stick them in there. Thanks again. Another problem helped solved by The BWB CREW.

NO!!!

Mothballs smell like...well...mothballs.

Use dryer sheets. Mice don't like 'em (old RV trick), and they smell a LOT better to us humans!

Even easier is to just take the seat off for the winter.
Have to trickle the battery anyways.

I get Decon 2 inch mouse blocks for winter. Toss a couple under the bikes for winter and under the Vettes and in the basement compartments of the motorhomes. Then toss a few under benches in the shop and sheds and a half dozen under the house, some behind washer and under cabinets. Easy to throw, last all winter, work well. Have not killed any of the cats yet after about four years of using them. Mice have been nearly non-existent since I started using them.

Aren't you concerned about inhaling them if you smell them?

I don't use a trickle on the battery. I use a maintainer. It cycles on and off as needed according to the battery voltage.

Etennuly,

Are you using the old type Decon, which worked, or the new type. Lots of people including me find the new EPA safe stuff doesnb't work well. Decon was forced to take the old effective stuff off the market.

What ever the green Decon and other brand blocks are. I bought another brand that were gray, what ever they were, did not work as well.

Good, I’ll look for the green stuff and give it a try.

Two mouse nests so far this year. One in the heater/AC duct in my Subaru. Got a big load of mouse shit in my face then the blower was making heavy vibration vibes so had to take it all apart. The other was on top of my Beemer’s motor. Both nests were made of chewed up paper towels.
