I agree M1. We share so much, I believe we're just seemingly more accident prone because of our willingness to share with eachother. Raven, Sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope you are doing well and heal up brother... |

I suspect (based on 20k+ miles on a Cyclone and my one short test ride on a race kitted 9s) that the XB's probably do let you get over your head faster and deeper then the tube framers do, at least the M2's anyway. |

Hi Everybody! I found an interesting site for old Buell information. I downloaded a commercial for the S1, some pictures, a complete service manual for the 1997 S1, and most interestingly, a factory tour through pictures and text circa 1997 featuring Erik racing, and a factory police bike, the Buell Defender, shown at a racetrack with police lighting installed! You will have to dig a bit to find anything, take your time. The url of the site is www.archive.org/web/web.php Whats the story behind the Defender police bike? |

Now I get it. Race police bikes, who would dare pass you? Brilliant idea!! Buell will win every race entered! |

That bike (actually THOSE bikes) were great converstaion pieces....UNTIL I crossed paths with a Daytona "Cop with a 'tude". Went home sans license and with black electrical tape over lights and "POLICE" markings... Remind me to tell you someday... Cooler yet were the 1998 S-1 White Lightning Interceptors prepared by R&D for the HD whoopdedoo. |

Anyone live near Lou's/Ravensmith's area drop in on Lou and tell him I said to get well, if you can send me a contact phone number - I'll do it myself, but I'm sure he he could use a visit or two or three as well. In advance - Thank you! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Snorkel, screen in fuel tank is attached to the on/off/reserve spigot. Unscrew 2 bolts, pull out spigot and screen. Best done with tank drained or tipped up and blocked on its side. |

I need the under seat lock cylinder for a 2000 X1 Lightning. The original owner lost it when he removed the rear fender, and I want to install the new CF under seat pan I just bought. Any help would be appreciated..... Thanks, Dave |

In actuality, fuel prices are not going "up". What is really happening is that the dollars you are using have gone down in value. We are seeing the early part of inflation. The Fed has had the printing presses cranked up full bore for almost a year now, and the dollars we are using are just part of a larger pile, thus they are worth less. the goods and services havent changed in value, the legal tender has changed. |

Update on Lou Conroy (Ravensmith22) Lou is still in the ICU. Tthey are keeping him very sedated as can be expected. I got a bit more infro from Nils at SPHD regarding his injuries. He broke both legs, both arms, collar bones, ribs, his pelvis and possibly ankles. This boy is going to be in a world of hurt for some time. He is expected to be moved from the ICU to a regular room in a few days. Sounds like he's going to be there a while. I don't yet have any info on a direct mail address for him. Nils at StPaul HD said he would deliver any mail sent to them for Lou. I'll get an address for SPHD and post it when I get home . Brad

Are we lucky that we have so many curves in the roads and our distances are much smaller: We have to pay 1.22 Euro/liter, that is 1.22*1.18*3.7854* = USD 5.45/gallon Hans

$2.09 a gallon for premium unleaded in Denver. 44 cents per gallon is tax. I assume Hans and Paul are paying significantly more tax per gallon than us in the states. Good thing I can go to and from work for a week on less than a gallon of gas, or I'd be complaining too! Gotta love motorcycles... |

Paulinoz's comment makes me wonder... Which motorbike would you all prefer to ride if you had to survive in post-apocalyptic, gasoline-starved Australia (a la Mad Max)? Think about fuel economy at high speeds, durability against shotgun blasts, and availability of scavenged spare parts when considering your choice. |

post- apocalyse... we are definitely talking about 4 stroke singles. it would be tough to beat the KLR250, or honda XR250. anything larger would use too much fuel. rock solid durability, ease of maintenance, and a long production run (parts plentitude) make these two bikes ideal. |
