Trying to find some Givi side racks to chop up and modify to fit the SX. I need the CAM version to fit the outback trekkers. So what bikes have similar tail dimensions to the SX?

This looks workable but there has to be better options

Versys looks better yet

What I did for my Roadster was , I bought a set of Hepco&Becker mounting racks for a Honda VTX for cheap from eBay. Then I took them and the bike to a welder who modified the mounting tabs so that they fit the bike. In the end, I got good hard bags that work well. You might want to do the same.

Here's how the mounts and bags looked at first:

After the welder re-did the mounts:

Now, I have both 30 and 40 Liter H&B Junior bags which work really well when I'm on the road.

If I ever get an 1190 SX, I'll do something similar for it.

I've been looking at the Shad 3P mounting system. It looks really clean, even with the bags off, and I was thinking of putting a set of bags on the SXBeta. I already contacted them to see if they would share rail dimensions so I could dope something up. My offer was to create a bolt on, then draw it up in CAD, and share that drawing with them, and the EBR community to make for our bikes. I wouldn't expect them to produce a rail for so few bikes out there. My hope was they would share that data with me to boost bag sales (even if only by a couple dozen sets)

Locked in with the Versys racks partly because they look pretty flat and mostly because I got a brand new set for $91 shipped off eBay.

Crusty nice setup I'm hoping I can fab the new mounts up myself but if it starts looking choppy one of my colleagues is in for a rough weekend

Some good news, I mocked up the top case and mounting plate. After making a few cardboard templates I decided to use the stock rear seat pan as the mounting plate (after removing the cushion) I will be able to drill two holes in the seat pan and use two slightly longer m6 bolts to tie it into the cross brace that holds the seat strap and lock assembly. So no drilling or modifying the bike itself.

That is the mounting plate I am using the four rear mounting holes are floating in space right now but some aluminum flat stock will remedy that.

This is the top case I am using, looks proportionate to the bike and I should be able to live out of it easily.

Next few weeks I will probably order the 37L side cases and see how bad the mounting will be on those.

Please keep us posted as you go. I like the Juniors that I've been using, but I'm also interested in the Givi Trekkers. A set of Trekkers and a trunk along with some Adventure bars and Knight Design footpegs would go a long way towards making the 1190 SX into my idea of a perfect Adventure/Sport Tourer.

Finished my top mount ended up using the two front holes on the trekker plate drilling a third hole in the plate and through the middle of the seat pan followed by two holes in the pan over the bolts for the seat strap.

Phone died before I could get a picture on the bike. The mount is EXTREMELY solid no fear of bending or coming off at speed.
