4 month old purebred pitbull female. The owners are breeders & show the dogs & this ine was the runt of the litter. They were going to put her down & my wife & daughter wouldnt let that happen. Not too sure of my feelings on having a dog again..been about 8 years. Pretty cool dog tho & she seems very well behaved. Guess i'll see how it goes for the next couple weeks. |

Dyna i had a red nose old family pit, took it from a abusive owner most loyal dog i ever had, suggestion expose it to as many kids as possible while it is young.its impossible to make these dogs passive if they have been brought up otherwise enjoy |

Dyna why did the breeder want to put her down???Usually if theres nothing wrong with pup they sell it for pet quality because of some breed standard flaw.In return they would demand the dog be spayed or neutered to control breeding of the dog.BTW cute pup you'll enjoy her. Some of the rewards that she may return to you may be priceless. edited by bads1 on May 12, 2004 |

The way I was told was because she was the runt of the litter she would end up being smaller than the other 11 puppies & they didnt want to take a small dog to the shows.................goofy crap if you ask me. Got her for free along with the papers. |

Hell I've seen the runt be best in show and turn out to be bigger then its litter mates when matured. |

It's true, some breeders will put the runt down, just to "ensure" the line isn't "infected". I heard it put that way, then I heard my wife call the lady ^#)(, or something like that. Those breeders who really care about their dogs will spay/neuter them and either give them away or sell them for a very small fee. My wife has taught me a lot about dogs, well, a lot more than I already knew. She earned her degree in B.S. in education but she'd rather work with dogs. She worked for many vets and groomed for Petsmart for years. She's been away from it for a few years, but is talking about going back when they open their new store here in Yuma. We have two dogs, both that she rescued. Dyna she saw the pict of your puppy and the first thing she wanted to do was rub her ears. Oneway's right though, socialize her. Pretty puppy you got there, ya'll take care of her. |

Dyna, Congrats - <insert Spueter your pet lecture here> - she's a cutey. From the looks of those paws even if she's the runt there's lots of room to grow If you're not familiar with the breed there's some great info here If all goes well with the home inspection tomorrow, I'm bringing home an 18 mo. old pit bull mix from a rescue group on Sun. |

Gus is home. He's 60 pounds of pure energy, great with kids, obedient, housebroken, etc. Anyone that wants a dog but doesn't think they can go through the puppy stage, there's a lot of adult and young adult dogs in shelters out there. I'm really glad I did it this way, since there's no way I could raise a puppy living alone and working. here's Gus: - no, I didn't name him. |
