I'm cross-posting this from the EBR 1190 owners group Facebook. A guy named Dallas Beranek has been in contact with Supersprox about making sprockets for EBR bikes. They've already added a rear sprocket to their listings. Their design uses an aluminum carrier with a separate steel toothed section which gives both light weight and long wear (supposedly 3 times the life of an aluminum sprocket). They've indicated they'll develop a front sprocket if there's sufficient interest:
quote:Sooooooo great news everyone..... I've been in contact with supersprox in regards to our front and rear sprocket problems. They've already made a file and part number for our rear sprockets in any tooth you want (41-47) in their stealth model that is an aluminum center and steel teeth hybrid thats is decently priced for the quality and longevity of the product. So now here's the reason I'm making a second post about this....... They've agreed to making a replacement for our front sprocket that will have a replaceable "consumable" sprocket that bolts to a machined piece that replaces our unit. The only catch is that we will have to do a group buy of 50 units to start to make the necessary tooling and machining processes. This is a feeler post to see if we have 50 people interested enough and then they will be giving me a price soon. I told him that if they were priced close to $200 and replacement sprockets $40-$50 that I think it shouldn't be a problem.
So, if you're interested, please post up on Facebook. If you're not on Facebook, post here and I'll let him know about the interest. |

I don't FB, but I'm in. I am assuming that the "consumable" sprocket will be available in 16-18 tooth designs? |

Would be cool for those that put miles on their bikes...or maybe for those that feel the need to change the drive ratio. I've got over 30,000 miles on my RX with very little sign of tooth wear on the front sprocket. Pretty tuff material what-ever it may be. I do have a second factory unit in the box waiting...in case of it being needed. Mike |

I've got over 30,000 miles on my RX with very little sign of tooth wear on the front sprocket. That's pretty impressive, and good to know. I'm under the impression that some guys have worn them out at FAR lower mileages. |

Chain drives are much more efficient than either cordon shaft/gear or belt drives, but it comes at the cost of good cleaning and lubrication regimen. Frequent cleaning and lubrication, like every 1000 miles, will deliver very long life. |

I've got a SX, I'm on my third rear sprocket, second chain and front sprocket with around 11K mileage on it. Since this is prototype/special order, how about going to a 530 sprockets and chain set up. A whole lot more durable given the horsepower these beast make, just a thought. I'm not concerned about the extra weight going to a 530 set up, my 16' Triumph Speed Triple R comes stock with it and steel sprockets last a long time if chain kept adjusted correctly! Either way, I'd be interested prefer a 530 set up though! |

Dual - How did you wear out sprockets and chains in 11,000 miles..? As noted above, I've got over 30,000 miles on the original sprockets. The chain is #2 only because something got caught in the hole in the swingarm (a chunk of tire I think) and pushed the chain out and into the swingarm. Stretched it in a sideways orientation, so I replace it. It's condition before that, it would have made it last as the sprockets have. Mike |

I guess I have a tendency to ride it like I stole it, lol I found that the rear aluminum sprocket, wears quickly, most have been changed as preventative maintenance prior to week of vacation on the motorcycle. |

"Sprockets"...no. "Pulleys", I know rear's are available from different places, not sure about front pulleys. I've never looked. The internet is your friend, just type the desired item into Google" and see what happens..! But under normal conditions, there is very little wear on the XB pulleys. They could most probably go the bikes life time without having to be replaced. As long as you leave all the protection in place. Mike |

If it has teeth on it, it's a sprocket. Doesn't matter if it's powering a belt or a chain. Pulleys work by friction, like on V-belts on cars. |

Hugh - Nope...not so much. Try to order a blower "sprocket" for a drag racer. You'll get laughed out of ANY racing shop. Out of "Webster's" - ""Pulley - a wheel used to transmit power by means of a band, belt, cord, rope, or chain passing over its rim"" You got it BACKWARD according to Webster..! Mike |

I still can't go anywhere...apart for my yearly valve check/adjust (33+k miles) and overall cleaning. New frt. & rr. "sprockets" in place and torqued. Rear cylinder valve clearance check...good as is and back together. Tomorrow for the front cylinder check. Mike |

Update- I got in touch with Dallas (the guy putting together this order). If you aren't on Facebook but you want to get on the order for these sprockets, please PM me including the information above (how many drive assemblies, how many sprockets, number of teeth on sprocket, and what size chain). I'll forward the info to him so you can be included on the order. (Message edited by Hughlysses on February 15, 2018) |

I'm late in posting this, but looks like this project is dead in the water for the time being. Dallas couldn't quite get enough people to commit to order and then some of those that had already committed backed out when LAP put a bunch of front sprockets on eBay for cheap. He says there's a chance this may happen in the future as the guy working on the sleeved cylinders is interested in taking it on. |
