Looking to put some NGK Iridium in my Uly as previous maintenance is unknown, and fuel mileage sucks. I'm looking at 2346 (DCPR9EIX) or 6546 (DCPR8EIX), looks like just one notch of heat range difference so I'm sure either would be fine but thought I would check here to see what you guys are using. I've never had these in a Buell but have had good luck with them in all my other vehicles. Thanks! |

DCPR9EIX for 08. That is what I run in the 08 and up 1203. |

BTW 2008 and later engines get worse fuel economy than previous years even with perfect spark plugs. My 2008 XB12X is lucky to get 45 MPG but my old X1 routinely gets low 50's. If you're getting below 40, I would think there may be some little detail you could address. Like a temperature sensor telling the engine to run rich, you know? |

Natex, I get barely 40mpg on a perfectly stock 2009 X but I will admit I run it hard around town and 80+ mph on the highway. I think if it's very important to you. I would have it tuned on a dyno to dial in that fuel air ratio at cruise speeds. |

There are a lot of weird theories about the fuel economy of 2008+ bikes. One is the mapping of the newer ECU. Indeed, the 2008 bike never pings unless I nail it with 89 Octane gas whereas the X1 has always pinged a bit off the line no matter what octane or air temperature. Both engines have the same compression ratio so the only thing really that's different is the "jetting" and timing of the ignition. The 2006 and 2007 had noticeably better fuel economy. Same weight and aerodynamic profile. Damn. Did I just write war and peace? Sorry for the threadjack. |

Thanks, I just ordered some plugs and a Buell Tooth. I'll change the plugs, put a tune on it and see what that gets me. Mine is a 2008, and 35mpg is bad. If it had a 6 gallon tank I would mind so much but.... |

I wouldn’t go messing with the ecm after getting 35 mpg. Depending on where and how you ride, that isn’t too unusual. In city riding, 35 mpg seems about normal for me. Country cruising or mountains? Mileage increases noticeably. 56mpg happened once in the mountains of NM. |

All bikes come tuned to meet EPA standards. Many people on this forum have reported much better throttle response, power and overall performance with a new fuel/ignition map, even with a stock pipe. For $45 I think it's worth a shot, I can always put the stock map back in. |

What you say is true. My stock ECU crapped out and I went to IDS for a "race" ECU for stock muffler and K&N filter. It really perked it right up and it wasn't so cold-blooded at startup. My fuel economy didn't change though. |

Curious as to when the cold start enrichment stops with 08 and up. Ecmspy says temp should be 180c to 220c. I've reset mine to 160c but I live south of Houston. We don't see that cold of weather. My 07x tends to take as much as 6 minutes for 160 to be achieved and come off cse. Now , it cools off really fast. So, if I've been on road and up to temp, then pull off for gas, whatever for 10 to 20 minutes I'm back to cse for maybe 3 minutes. Then back off of cse. That has gotta f..ck up gas mileage a bit. I average hi forties mostly cuz I don't take a lot of trips. When on road all day at higher speeds, I've averaged low 50 mpg. Y'all data log and check to see what your sensors are telling the ecm cuz in the end , individual bikes go by what their sensors are sending to the ecm. Just saying. |

IDS is my next investment on my 09 X with the KN and stock muffler. The stock ECM has a mind of its own. Some days it idles high, other days low, some time a crack it and it takes off like a rocket and other times she takes her time getting up to speed. I have a 2016 power wagon with the same problem. Either companies are holding back on the tunes or the EPA is killing them! |

I have only Apple products. I'm pretty sure Sansung android can only be used with Buelltooth. |
