I doubt believe his disability will affect his ability to do hard time A reasonable accommodation could be made simply by providing a daily newspaper. Unless of course, he is also illiterate. In that case he could always option for the aforementioned axe to reduce his sentence. | ||

Some cities have areas downtown that are for foot traffic only; vehicles can't drive down "main street" or whatever the area is called. A gentleman at my church proposed that our mainstreet be off limit to 18 wheelers. They'd have to stay a block over and make their deliveries to the backside of the businesses. That was 15 or 20 years before these muslims started plowing folks down, his idea was simply to decongest traffic for locals. Blocking heavy trucks from specific streets and areas can be a logistics nightmare. Or it can be a problem to be solved, and transforming Mainstreet into a Boardwalk can be beneficial for getting folks walking and cycling. It can also reduce the number of these attacks, and their lethality. Just a couple 2 cents. Glad the officer shot the dude, and in the gut. Glad they took him alive. I hope they hang him publicly, and force feed him bacon. They can serve hot dogs and pork rinds alongside a nice cold cup of beer at the viewing. | ||

Great movie. I love the soccer hooligans! I've been having moments in the morning lately, where I reflect - generally while I'm working out and using anger/frustration to motivate me through my 1,000 meter row, or my 2 mile elliptical run - that our world will be gone before I die. Everything we hold dear and take for granted - freedom, prosperity, safety, independence - is likely going to be completely overthrown before I die. I'm 45. I can easily see open warfare in US streets and cities, leading to our falling (just like the rest of the world, EU in particular) to a relentless Islamic global invasion. The radical Islamists will continue to grow and kill and invade, and will continue to convert moderates to the "cause". And, radical Westerners (liberals)...will ENCOURAGE them and invite them into our cities and homes. I don't see this going well in the next few decades. Not well at all. This is a global problem, and with only two physical borders, the USA is in a unique position for relatively easy self defense...from the outside, anyway. And if we don't fix our shit internally, and FAST, none of that will matter. | ||

Ratbuell, every generation has those dark thoughts. That's why there's nostalgia. We lived in a golden age, and now the walls are crumbling.... you can read that in books going back to the beginning of writing. Just think of it this way. It's a Golden age, Right Now, for high performance cars, motorcycles, even actual hoverboards. ( never mind that they require superhuman reflexes and you can't afford one ) We have a Prez who I dislike, but at least he knows he's a product of Western Civilization, and admits that Sharia is a problem. The news out of Saudi Arabia, the source of funding and ideology of Wahabist hatred, is exciting and scary as heck. I wish the current King & Prince all the luck in the world to turn their country around and hammer the Jihad from it's spiritual source. ( odds are they all die, horribly, that's been the pattern for 1100 years, but they are trying, and that's refreshing ) Also, you're not alone. There are a lot of Americans that won't let any one dictate to them on religion, and mean it. The answer isn't hatred, it's spreading the American Dream. I know folk who love America, run small businesses, and are devout, if somewhat heretical Muslims. There's an "insult" that is often used for American's in the Catholic church, "cafeteria Catholics". Pick some from column A, some from column B.... It's the compromise you make between a secular government, and your faith. Islam needs, and specifically forbids, a protestant reformation. But millions of devout people have already chosen to live by common values despite the specifics of centuries old religious laws. There is hope. Lots of good, honest Muslims in America. As the ancient Chinese curse goes.. "may you live in interesting times". | ||

I'm not hiding from life - those of you who know me, know better than that! It's just an occasional moment now and then when it hits me that this could all go very badly, very quickly. Does it stop me from enjoying my daily life? Nah. I don't give them that much satisfaction. Concern and awareness are one thing - fear, another thing entirely. And until I start hearing shots ring out...fear isn't part of the equation. Just awareness, and concern. But, still living MY life  |
