Speaking of data logs, my 09 Ulysses XT is throwing error codes 15 - Air Temperature too high/short to ground, and 34 - IAC position tool low and 34 - IAC circuit failure. The check engine light comes on usually after having to stop at a red light. If I can get clear and ride a while uninterrupted it sometimes goes out but these error codes are stored. After the light comes on the engine will sometimes rev to 2k at idle. I've been fighting this before when I was just getting IAC warnings. I cleaned the IAC and eventually replaced it. I ran a log while it was idling after the light came on. The ambient temp was around 60-65 degrees F. Am I reading the log correctly? Does the sensor think it is 106F outside? Would someone take a look at the log to see if anything pops out? |

Sounds like one of the two wires is rubbed through to something metal. I would suggest you pop off the airbox floor and get a good light in there. You could probably have this fixed with some electrical tape. |

Two things I learned early on setting the TPS on '06 Ulys, it must be fully warmed up before resetting it, and the throttle plate should be cleaned before resetting. Buddy of mine rode his Uly in to my shop one day claiming it had a sputter type miss mid throttle. We hooked it up did the TPS reset he went out for a test ride, barely making it back. We had made it worse! Took things apart to check throttle operation. We found that it gave us a false zero closed throttle start position. Carbon had built up on the edge of the plate not allowing it to close 100 percent. When running my finger on the edge of the throttle plate it felt like sand paper. But it could not be seen until after we had discovered it. It made the plate stick and hang coming off idle when forced shut in throttle bore. So it was never giving us a true mechanical zero to start from. Simply cleaned the plate with carburetor cleaner and a small brush, reset TPS and it ran better than ever. |

Does it sound like a short if it seems to happen when I get stuck in traffic and the light turns off when I get clear and drive a while without stopping? The light comes on more when the outdoor temp is higher. I had a shop look at it a while back. They checked the grounds and the wiring around the area. I was hoping the log would point to something. |
