hi guys... is the manta tank on the s1w the same tank as on the m2? if so, either one could replace the small s1 tank, correct? |

Correct. Works either direction on the non fuel injected tubers. |

It will fit, but it's the same exact tail so I'm not sure what the benefit of a swap would be, unless you just wanted a color change. All S1 seats are interchangeable with each other(but not M2 seats/bodywork). And just a pre-warning, someone's eventually gonna come in and tell you to start using the search function because these questions have been asked and answered 100 times already haha The S1 manta tank and the M2 manta tank are the same exact tanks. Same for the smaller ones. The only time you run into changes are when you get to FI bikes like the S3, which looks like the normal manta tank, but has different holes/fittings for the fuel pump as opposed to the petcock. The X1 tank is entirely different. |

i know. but if i utilize the search, i wouldnt be able to meet people on here but i will use it from now on. i have a buddy that has the 98 twintail. same color as mine and the only reason for swappin would be to give rides to a select few. i do know that my 00 X1 tank wont work. FI vs carbed. i just wanted to verify fitment before buying one and putting forth the effort into refinishing. thank you maiden |

Uh.....the body work is different for the twin tail as well, as is the license plate bracket. Its not just the seat. A complete S1 twin tail setup is pretty damn rare |

And BTW, I am happy to answer questions which have been answered before. I find it's the best way to keep new blood coming back to BadWeb... |

The instruction sheet has the part numbers for the seat support, which you will need for the twin tale swap. Good luck. |

I get ya....Subframes are the same regardless of how it came from the factory.....nothing special there. I believe the twintail setup was available dealer accessory/option. Hense the instruction sheet above. The 3 main pieces needed being the seat, tail section, and the tail light bracket. All should be swapped together, but can easily be done. Thats what is kinda neat about the S1. Lots of combinations for what you want.......2 tanks, 2 seats, mix and match for your needs. |

Ah, that was my fault, I completely missed the word "twin" when I read that, and thought you were just swapping short tails. The twin tails are definitely rare(and expensive!). If you have the option to trade someone I'd go for it. You can pick up short tail parts a lot cheaper later down the line than you would spend on the twin tail. That bracket that goes with the twintail doesn't do anything to support the actual tail, it's only different because it moves the taillight further back so it's not tucked as far under the tail. Technically, you can still use your old bracket if you're not bothered by your tail light and license plate being tucked up further. Also, you can always just get yourself some sheet metal and bend yourself your own bracket if you're resourceful. Wasn't giving you a hard time about asking questions. I agree I don't mind answering them, it gives me something to do at work haha. I just know someone always comes around and mentions the search function, and I remember it just coming up in a conversation here a day or two ago. You already have an X1? post some pictures! |

its all good maiden. ive been around enough to know that i should use the search engine when inquiring. but whats the fun in that? i dont think a trade is in the future with the twin tail but i could use it from time to time if i wanted to give someone a ride. of course, i can always use the X1 for passengers too. thanks for all the help. you guys rock! as soon as i can resize these pics, ill send one |

I feel like lately I've done that at least once a week, give someone a wrong answer, then go back and realize I just completely misread the entire question. I usually check this forum when I'm at work, so I think my brain is just tapped out haha |

"You already have an X1? post some pictures!" Yup! Wanted to see it. That is an extremely clean X1. I don't see any dirt or corrosion anywhere, I'm impressed. Now go buy yourself an S1 |

Do your heels ever hit the swingarm or feel like they're just floating?? I've seen a few people cut the passenger peg mounts off of their S1s, and I've thought about doing it, but I know they double as heel rests/guards, and didn't want to regret it after they were gone. Wish they were removable like the X1 brackets. |

Thanks Andy. I have half a mind to tear it apart and PC the frame nuke blue. Or, at least as close as I can find to nuke blue. K12 here had an S1W with black plastics and a blue frame for sale. That was a sa-weet lookin ride. |

That thing is extremely nice! and it's just as clean as the X1. I'd vote for a black frame, but I'm sure the blue would look very nice too. |

thats bad ass right there s1. hootowl- there is a d&d on the x1 yes. not sure what is on the s1. no markings anywhere. all one piece from header to muffler. the PO of the s1 used bars that mount to the top triple tree. im not diggin the position, (feels like a cbr)and wish to go back to regular bars with possibly a 1” rise. i found some for the XB and if i recall correctly, those will mount to the s1. can anyone confirm fitment? https://dieselmoto.com/collections/xb/products/1-b illet-handlebar-risers |

What year S1 is that? Asking brcause the 96 had the locer bar clamps as bolt on instead of part of the triple! Makes it really easy to raise the bars Just add a spacer and longer bolt under it |
