Some family and their friends are going nuts about guns in the U.S. My problem is that the guns they target for bans account for less than 1% of all illicit use. Statistically suicide and gang activity are the biggest problems, but you won't hear a peep from Democrats or the crooked media on those points. They have an agenda to sell. The emotionally charged rhetoric and pandering is really off putting. The blatant demonization of the NRA and members is insane. It's some psyops level **** going on. On the NRA point, I am dissappoint. In lieu of all the madness I was ready to send them a bunch of money, but they decided to pull a political stunt. I understand the tactic, but it sets a bad precedent. Feinstein and Co. are already cooking up plans for literally anything that could increase rates of fire, and asking for regulations on technically legal devices on non technical terms is just asking for trouble down the road. As usual, I am called a hateful racist Nazi and Russian propagandist for believing in my own rights. Someone with a liberal arts degree called me uneducated. Life as usual. My 10" 9mm barrel is out for threading. It's going to be a long wait. |

Not yet. I'm floating some ideas. Black powder single action revolver, a form one suppressor, or creating an AOW. I'm even considering getting one of those binary trigger jobbers. The final option is none of the above and buying a casting mold for 12ga slugs and doing more shooting/reloading. Maybe a little competition shooting would spice things up. Suddenly, there is a problem, cause "evil may be legislated out of existence"? The murder rate is now half what it was 25 years ago. I suppose the wise thing would be to follow the lead of the state with the lowest murder rate.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/452426/secon d-amendment-armed-citizenry-vs-government-force-hi story The arguments that guns in the hands of citizens doesn't matter against tyranny because the Army has Tanks is bogus. Five squad cars with regular police can go and murder an armed man in his home just fine. So can two teenage girls with Molotov cocktails. No Citizen wants to shoot it out with the local police. They are neighbors and friends. Almost no one will, even when the jack booted thugs of the State Police kick doors down in the dark. It doesn't happen. There aren't any lists of police killed raiding honest citizens homes. Ruby Ridge and Waco were mass assaults by dishonest police with heavy weapons on isolated people and famous for the brutality of the police, that's the only reason they are famous. Not that they were triumphs of law enforcement. ( no matter what the NY Times says ) That's ignoring we live in the 21st century. Those 2 teenage girls can go murder a Congressman too. Evil men always assume they are more ruthless than good men. They are wrong. |

I will point out this strategy of killing Leaders Of Evil has already begun.... just incompetently by a follower of the left and a dupe of the propaganda of the oppressors. I'm betting that happens again. |

Robert (Laboy) Finicum & Malheur Wildlife Refuge Bundy Ranch Waco Ruby Ridge The Battle of Athens, Tennessee The internment of American citizens of Japanese decent. Lexington & Concord Just some history to recall and ponder when considering limiting the people's right to own and carry effective military grade weaponry. The very thing that the 2nd amendment was written to protect against is the very thing that has repeatedly diminished its meaning and integrity. Imagine its authors had foreseen the gradual progressive erosion of freedom and the steady progression of big powerful govt in America. Have you any doubt that they'd have further clarified the 2nd amendment? A well-armed citizenry being vital to the security of a free state and of free men against the tyrannies of government, criminals, and enemies both foreign and domestic, the right of the people to own and carry military grade weaponry shall in no way be infringed nor subject to regulation by the federal government. |

So you say civilian ownership of tanks is cool? I agree. I always wanted a M-60a1. It's not in my budget and I'll just have to live with that like I live with my lack of a P-39 in my lack of a hanger. Frankly I'd rather have a plane than a tank. Btw how many people have died from tank attack in the U.S. in the last 60 years? About 70. When the BATF lied to get them used against civilians in Texas. I don't know any WW2 buffs who've attacked a concert with their Sherman. ( & no one besides hobbyists will bother to maintain a gas guzzling slow noisy uncomfortable toy like a tank..... or a WW2 bomber. ) Yes snowflakes, It's ok to own a tank. It's ok to own a Prius. Which do you think kills more each year on our highways? |

There are legions of fools unwittingly indoctrinated as little tyrants. They're the guys saying "why do you need...," "the founders never envisioned," "guns are only meant to kill people," and "nobody needs an assault rifle, they're just meant to kill masses of people." Their lock step acceptance of the state as religion and savior; father and mother is disturbing. Yet I am called a Nazi fascist racist KKK Russian propagandist for believing in my own rights. They're insane. Lately Australia is being pushed the world over as an example for the U.S. to follow. Their gun control scheme, despite the propaganda of their politicians, has done literally nothing to curb violent crime, has had no effect on murder rates, and no effect on "gun crime." They claim they've had no mass shootings since...though I believe they've only had one mass shooting to begin with...the one used as justification to eliminate everyone's rights to self defense and the guns suitable for the purpose from the general populace. After the measures were enacted, Australia saw a ten year hike in sexual assaults and robberies. What, exactly, was gained, other than the empty rhetoric of having done something? "Gun control" makes sense only to statists, the people conditioned to fear inanimate objects, and the legions of those indoctrinated to love big brother. |

As violent crime and murder rates have been steadily declining the civilized the world over for decades, Australia as the prime example for the success of "gun control" appears a poor choice...unless you're stupid. The home invasion robbery became a new phenomenon. It should be noted that the first "buyback" (I.E. confiscation) was in 1996.

As my colleague Robert VerBruggen put it in a recent review of the evidence, “a bunch of states started letting almost any random person walk around with a gun, and if anything good or bad resulted, it doesn’t reliably show up in the data. That’s something in itself.” I’ll say. Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/452443/charli e-sykess-wrong-call-constitutional-carry-nuts |

I've always like the small revolvers but nobody makes what I want. I would prefer a small frame 45 ACP with a 4 shot cylinder with square sides to make it narrow. Many 45 ACP's use a large frame with a cylinder for a 45 Colt so the bullet has too far to travel before hitting the barrel. I would also have the barrel lined up with the bottom of the cylinder. The safe position would have the flat sides of the cylinder to the outside so the firing pin would be lined up between the rounds. Maybe some day I'll build it... |

My only complaint with the 357's snubs (or "short nose" to the more technically astute) is the noise and blast. It's incredible. (Message edited by Rick_a on October 10, 2017) |

The ported barrel on mine shoots a nice blast of flame straight up... it's super awesome. I get what you're saying, but noise and blast don't concern me much. If I have to use it, I'm most concerned with not leaving pieces of identifiable metal all over the ground. My philosophy is GTFO as fast as possible, if somebody has questions about what happened, they can come and find me. If I can run without firing a shot, that's exactly what I am going to do. |

The NRA museum in Fairfax has some strange revolvers that hold two shots. Flat "cylinders" I was unsure if you had to turn them by hand or if they actually advance all the way around 180 degrees when you pull the hammer back. |

While surface finish looks cheap, the Charter Arms revolvers seem reliable. A buddy used to shoot PPC in the early days with a Bulldog in .44 S&W Special, major power level, good accuracy, and did well except slower reloading. He too didn't want to litter a crime scene based on his intelligence job at the time. He wasn't one of those "I could tell you, but then..." guys. He was serious about not being kidnapped to be interrogated by a foreign power. When he was stationed in Berlin his unit was authorized personal arms for just that purpose. The bunker guards that stored the weapons when he went to work used to joke as they checked in the weapons. "Rambo, Rambo, Patton, ( pearl handled Colt small auto ) Rambo, ( .45 ) Rambo, Dirty Harry. ( my buddy's .44 ) The guards, Intel section and the Rangers all hung out together and he said the big difference was how many knives were carried. |

Another "joke" was what to do when Berlin fell. His plan was "steal a Soviet tank and blend in as the mob heads towards Paris". That sounds funny until you find out he was trained in Soviet tanks when in an Opfor unit and speaks fluent Russian in 4 local dialects. |

If I had to have a small revolver today it would be the 44 special. With a short barrel you're not going to get a 357 to full speed so you might as well throw a brick at them, as in the 44. The Rhino has some of the characteristics I would want but is still massive. IT's a six shooter so the cylinder, even though it has flat sides, still sticks out pretty far. My concept would rest in safe mode between the chambers but upon pulling the trigger it would rotate into firing mode like any double action. The reason for the 45 acp is just for length reasons, otherwise the special would work. The fact is, any of these things is going to defend you and put a hole in the bad guy. It's like customizing a motorcycle into your vision of what it should be. |

I think of the .357 snub nose as a flash bang with every round fired. If I had my choice, I'd carry a grenade. |

I do have a Ruger Security Six in .357 M. It's a 4" barrel and I reload with Blue Dot powder. If the bullet doesn't kill you the flame out of the barrel will make you toast! |

A 2" barrel shooting .357 is still considerably more powerful than a 2" barrel shooting 38spl. "Full speed" with 357 requires at least 8" of barrel. Velocity climbs pretty rapidly up to 16." Playing Opfor is nothing special, Aesquire. It's a lot less glamorous than people make it to be. It mostly made me glad that I wasn't in the Army...at least as regular. Having A-10s routinely flying just overhead was pretty awe inspiring, however.

That is correct. Nothing like a flashbang and gun in one. Ruger once made a Hawkeye single shot pistol based on a revolver frame.

Take a .357 magnum cartridge and neck it down to .256. Now put a 60 grain .257 bullet over the same powder load for 2350 fps and 700 ft./pounds of energy.

....I was unsure if you had to turn them by hand.... Yes, you do manually index them. It's a pity that the Hawkeye never caught on, but the market for single shot rifles and pistols is small, and sales are dominated by the cost effective break action models, with a tiny hardcore into either vintage style rifles, Like the Sharps or Rolling Block discussed above, or high end hunting rifles like the Blazer or Ruger #1. Personally I'm a big fan of the #1, but don't currently own one. If I see one used in a caliber that strikes my fancy, I will buy another. I bought one in .458 Winchester magnum, cherry, used, from a local store. I then ordered a couple of boxes of ammo, to try it out. I mean, I just HAD to try a proper Elephant Gun. I took it to the expensive local club and set up at the range, and immediately had an audience. After I fired three shots, I was ready for a break, and let 5 more guys try it out. One of them bought it on the spot. ( I doubled my money ) Come to think of it, that may be the only gun I've ever sold besides the Armalite AR-5 I deeply regretted selling when I was 19. For certain the only one I made money on, and the buyer got a bargain and knew it. Win Win. I trade them, I give them away, ( mostly give them as presents ) but selling makes my tummy hurt. |
