The time has come to part out my beloved Useless. It has simply gotten to be too expensive to maintain as it's started nickling and diming me to death. Yeah, I dunno, going back and forth on this one. I can do the work but how much grease can one person stand to play with? I'll save the part request emails while I finish stewing about this one. Maybe it would make more sense to use that old BMW K100 as my daily beater. It's kind of an old slug but I need something that will do another 60,000 miles and then I can retire. | ||

What color are the wheels? Might be interested in them plus the whole front end to swap onto my S1. I'm a local PA guy, just over between York and Lancaster. Hate to see a good bike parted out, but I've been there. Did it with my BMW 1100RT after 135k miles and a transmission failure. The parts were worth 2.5-3X what the complete running bike was worth. | ||

Saving the emails, give me another week or two to mull this one over. Wheels were the magnesium tone, now they're kind of Harrisburg rain puddle color. Forks are just fine. | ||

If you part it out you will end up with a lot of pieces that you will need to give away, because they won't sell plus parting out the bike is a pain, I know by experience. | ||

2006 and call me a glutton for punishment but I just spent 12 hours dropping the motor, disemboweling it and putting it back together. Ourdee talked me into it, I'll keep beating on the old heap and nursing it toward 200,000. It goes like hell, shame it's so aggravating. | ||

I guess we're two of a pair. It's been ride/wrench/ride/wrench for about the past 40,000 miles but I'm hoping that's behind me for a bit. Yesterday was Accel plug leads and reset the TPS. 108,000 so only 92,000 to go to the finish line... | ||
