Having trouble hands going numb - have Kaoko bar end weights and throttlelock but still too many vibes. Has any one tried the liquid barsnake, inside bar weights, vibranator, HVMP, etc. I would prefer to keep throttle lock, thanks.

What RPM are you running at? After 2500 rpm the Ulysses smoothest out better than any street bike on the market!

Keep the revs over 3k and your hands should be fine. Putt around in a high gear and even I get numb hands.

I've seen somebody fill the bars with lead shot. Idk how effective this will be but it's worth a SHOT! Also I got renthal superbike grips and they knocked down a good bit of vibes.

I usually keep rpm 2500+ but vibes are still too much for my 75 year old hands. I filled the bars on my XR650l with lead shot but just made heavier no help with vibes. Latest Cycle World service column suggested inserting natural rubber tubing inside bar sized to allow it to bounce around. Want to keep the throttle lock so need something inside bar - had a BMW K100rs with weights inside bar and Throttlemeister on the end that worked pretty good. Anyone tried the Barsnake?

Have you considered that your front engine isolator may be going bad? My back is sensitive to vibration. I have replaced that isolator about every 10,000 miles.

Vern, I want to call dibs on the next one you replace. It would be a good candidate for my spares bin.

I've only got 17k miles, assumed isolater lasted longer but already have a spare. Any way to visually check or test besides replacement?

Visually check for increased vibration? No, not really. A new one should make quite an improvement. Mine is LONG overdue.

You can look up in the webbing of the rubber isolator. The webs crack and sag. As they get older they sag and crack further. The more it sags the more vibration you feel. If that is your problem the difference is immediate and amazing.

I would also check the primary chain tension, a loose chain can get things thumping at certain RPM and maybe some spacers to make the bars taller. The further away you are from the triple trees, the less vibrations. Many years as a hotrod kid with my drag bars taught me that. Now that I'm almost 50, I can't handle that crap anymore. Lol

Many things can get that vibrating lump to transfer energy to the body of the bike.

I put a couple of drops of motor oil on each of the heim joint motor torque mounts. They bind if not lubed.

Smooth running engine helps. Check plugs and wires as well as TPS reset and clean the edges of the throttle plate.

The isolater is cracked, can see it with small mirror and strong light - replacement looks easy enough in the manual so starting on it now. Recent primary adjust and new plugs, wires looked OK will check the throttle plate and TPS. I also spent too many years on old HD's and Brit café bikes, but never considered ape hangers!

New isolater and Uly feels like it new again! Plus that's my first time replacing a Uly part that it didn't require taking off five other parts first -easier than changing the oil! The inner web was split 3/4 the way around - my old FLHT went 35k before the front mount worn out. Thanks again for youalls help.

Glad that got you back to happy with the Uly! We have a pretty powerful high torque long stroke vibrator to tame in these machines.

Worth every penny!

I bought a new isolater a couple of years after I bought my bike in 07. I now have 50,000 on it and it hasn't broken yet but it's been cracked for a long time. Dealer wouldn't warranty it unless it had total failure. Maybe I'll go ahead and put the new one on and see if it smooths out any and then order another one while I still can.
I also bought a fan back then and then mine never failed!

Where and how much is the isolator (a.k.a. motor mount)?

So I installed the new one and revved it to 3000 rpm and the bars were dead smooth. What a difference! I guess I'm so used to my Harley the vibration just felt normal!

Buddy of mine tried to make a better web for it. Took out old rubber put center bolt sleeve in place filling void with urethane rubber wheel stuff that he made fork lift tires with.

Starting with solid full, It vibrated worse than bad mount. Then he removed some material by drilling it. By the time it was whittled down to acceptable it cracked then tore loose in a short time.

The dark cracks near the center were probably caused by removal. It broke loose from the threads but was rusted to the sleeve and it really twisted around until it broke loose from it. It was really corroded. After wire wheeling it I slathered on the anti-seize and it went back together so easy! Time to order another spare.

Mine has 50K on it but doesn't feel vibey.
Perhaps I too have gotten used to a bad one.
I also have one on the shelf waiting for a failure.

I'll have to go under there and actually look at mine and compare it to yours.
