I'm a 6'5" former XB12Ss owner looking for a Ulysses. There's conflicting info on the seat height across the years. The older ones seem higher (~ 35"). Anyone know what year they shifted to the shorter height? Is there anyway to know (other than sitting or measuring) which models were the taller models? Thanks. |

The 06 had the taller seat. It had some seams on the riders area and a thin material in that area too. It holds water for a little while. I suggest you see if you can still get a 2010 tall seat. It was an option. I replaced my 06 tall with the 2010 tall to get rid of the seams and cloth. In 07 they went short. |

BTW, I got an original 2006 tall seat used and it has the seams that people complain about but they never bothered me. If you can find a 2006 tall seat for cheap, I suggest getting it. |

XB12XT starting in 08 was a lower model. T=Touring. The XB12X had the most suspension height. There was a low seat and a tall seat that would fit on either the X or XT. If the seat dips down on the driver portion, it is the low seat. |

Ourdee has it right. And the tall seat as always been standard on all X-models and the low seat was the option. The flip opposite was true on the XT models where the low seat was standard. Then some of us still swapped it for the Corbin. At 6'2", the XT seat is still a very comfortable ride for me. Much more room than the 12s or 12ss. Good luck! |

Ourdee has it right. And the tall seat as always been standard on all X-models and the low seat was the option. Not true. The tall seat was standard on the XB12X in 2006 (first year) only. An accessory low seat was offered in 2006. In 2007, a lower seat was fitted as standard. It is not the same as the 2006 low seat (different construction), but it is approximately the same height. The cover material, the cushioning, and the overall shape for the 2006 accessory low seat are slightly different from the 2007 standard low seat. Also in 2007, an accessory tall seat was offered. It eliminated the seams along the edge of the seating surface that some people complained about. So any accessory tall seat should not have the seam. |

Just to be clear than the 2010 12XB is as tall as the 2006 12XB as long as the 2010 has the tall seat? Thanks. |

^ The 2010 XB12X is just as tall as the 2006 XB12X as long as it has a tall seat. |

Thank you for all the information. I guess based on this and other advice elsewhere on the site I will start looking for a 2008 or newer tall seat model, preferably with the Drummer exhaust. I had them on my 12Ss and 1125 and loved them. |

I'm 6'2" with a 34 inseam and the 09 X with the tall seat has me almost flat footed with the rear shock turned all the way down. The tall seat is available new and it's cheap @$100 . I think it is very comfortable and many reviews have said the same. The X reminds me of my full floater RM 250 . It is plush and can take a 3 foot high jump as smooth as any dirtbike. I would say my only difficulty is throwing my leg that high to get over the seat. I sometime just step on a peg first, then throw my leg over with the tall seat. I have a med and a low seat also but I like the stock tall the best. |

I stand corrected on the tall seat change after 06. I had not seen anything taller than the stock seat on all the X models. I agree with the others, getting a leg over can be a job. |

I'm 6'1" and I've tried both seats. I think the tall seat is much more comfortable than the shorter one. It's weird because they both look the same to me. My heals are about 1/2" shy of touching the ground with the tall seat on my '07 uly.} (Message edited by djohnk on October 03, 2017) |
