Question for any CURRENT Jardine users....just picked up mine for the XB9. Now I know there has been alot of problems with the chin fairing mounts. This one came with the steel mount for the left and a 1/4" thick aluminum one for the right (anyone saying that they have a stainless steel one, that's aluminum also, trust me). Is anyone using (read: installed) these mounts on their bike, and, if so, how have they been holding up?? Should I install the mount or wait indefinetely until they make a replacement? Thanks. | ||

I have the Jardine on my XB12 for over 1000 miles and its rock solid. Put it on and have fun! | ||

new Jardine is on, took about an hour, from beginning the stock removal to the last bolt....no tensioner pulley removal, just a saw-zall and a pair of snips. Front bracket was off a little, though, had to grind away the engine case side of the bracket to get it to fit. Sounds good, but was raining, so no ride. Still unsure of what to do about the fairing mounts. | ||

No question about the mounting of the muffler.••••••'s the chin fairing mounts I've had problems with. Broken one left mount (When it too was aluminum, since been switched out with steel) and two right side mounts. Jardine says the right side is on the way. I'd say leave the chin fairing off for now. Notice the distance of unsupported aluminum between the chin fairing and the pulley mounted end. That's a lot of fatigue for aluminum to handle given the vibration here. Every time I put one on, it snaps right at the pulley. Also, when it snaps, it allows the chin fairing to hang down enough to touch the header, damaging the chin fairing. Don't count on Jardine paying you for parts either! I say leave it off till the right side is ready in steel. Jardine has been stand-up so far and I love their muffler, but would rather wait for the steel right side bracket than chance ruining more chin fairing plastic... | ||

i'm a sheet metal worker, so i'm having our shop shear some steel and i'm going to tig a new right mount out of steel, then have my friend powdercoat both black....just wanted some feedback from someone that used the steel AND aluminum to see if the steel left made a difference...guess not. I was wondering how much not having the front supports for the chin fairing affect the breakage problems, too. | ||

I just checked with a friend who got one of the first jardine`s for his XB9. BOTH his fairing brackets on his are aluminum. He has about 3500 miles on since he put the pipe on. The only problem he said was that the brackets loosened up a couple of times. Fixed with loctite. | ||

OK... Jardine made good today. The steel mount is in and it's beautiful. Still won't replace the plastic that melted, but I guess I'll have to live with that. |
