Ok so I got my bike all done took it for a 30 min test ride and all seams good but once its up to temp it does not want to stay idleing it just kills.
I have the nhrs 1250 kit top end only 10:1. Otherwise stock. They suggested and I installed either a 180 or 185 main jet and a 45 pilot jet and installed the tiny spacer mod ( forgot what it was called).
Stock carb
Only other thing is the adjustment knob that comes out by the tank ( never new what it was called) feels like it is not working now?
And help would be great
Biult a whole bike but I have no carb knowledge!!

that adjustment knob is your idle adjust screw. It is a cable that attaches to a screw that goes into your throttle linkage and is, basically, an adjustable throttle stop. If it came out then yes, your idle will be too low and the bike will die.

The idle adjustment cable are known to break.

Here's what I got out of my 99 M2 parts catalog.
27347-96Y Idle Adjuster Kit https://shop.newcastlehd.com/part/27347-96y
27349-96Y Idle Adjuster Cable, didn't come up in the search or in the cross reference for part number changes, possibly discontinued. I'm sure Lance will have better input when he can get in front of a computer at work.

Ah, a little further digging shows 27347-96Y replaces 27349-96Y. I would assume this part is common to all carbed tubers.

Unless your filter happens to block it completely, you should be able to tell if it's broken or not by watching the carb while you twist it, you can see if it's moving on the other end.

The 27347-96Y kit is still available and retails for $31.72. My guess is it will go OBS soon being some of the parts in the kit are OBS now. I'm currently out of stock right now but I think we should have them in by the end of the week.

Ok so I found the issue it is with the remote idle adjuster. Wierd as it backed all the way out from the vibrations I assume screwed it in and problem solved. Although I need a new one as I can see it is worn and cracked up. Also need to pull the carb as the tab it pushes into is barely catching it so a little tweak will fix that.
Lance
I will need one but are the XB ones compatible? I seen some XB ones that appear to have an aluminum knob?
If so thats what I want if not stock it is

Ken , the XB ones only fit on the X1 and S3 injected bikes.

Anyone come up with a better mount than the double ended zip tie?

Why? That's worked perfectly for me all these years...

I suppose you could use a small hose clamp, but that would scar up the paint on the frame.

The double zip tie is the best way of attaching the cable to the frame. There isn't a hole lot of room in the area and with using the zip tie you can get it tight to the frame and keep it loose around the adjustment cable.
