this is pretty annoying to me because I like to slip the clutch and use the rear brake to smooth out the bike, especially for parking lot maneuvers. it all started some 10k mi ago when I replaced the worn out oem pads with some EBC HH's and noticed that the rear brake would sometimes squeak, so I tried to deglaze the rotor and clean up the pads but couldn't get the rear brakes to stay quiet. de-glazing seemed to only last until the pads were bedded into the rotor. so I just put on some semi-metallic pads, de-glazed the rotor again with 150 grit and elbow grease, and re-assembled everything with disc break quiet, but it still friggin' squeaks WTF!? | ||

I have a squeaky front brake but my rear is silent. Front is lyndal golds, rear is stock. I think the OEM pads are more quiet. You could try that goop that car guys put between the caliper and the pads? Personally, I would just put up with it. | ||

Do you still have your stock pads? You could put them on (even though they're worn out), just to see if that's the culprit. I put EBC HH on front, and solved the pulsing problem, but still have stock pads on rear (33k). Have you checked and greased the pins that the caliper centers (floats) on? "Dry Slide" on the pins that hold the pads? | ||

I'm running EBC HH pads front and rear too. Lately has been squeaking at the rear like yours. Tried some hard braking from speed sessions but made no difference. Last set did not squeak. At this point I don't really care much, but I can understand how annoying it can be. You could sand off the pads and scratch up the rotor with emory (something I do when changing pads anyway) and reinstall. Might get you fixed. I don't like the squeak, but moreover, I don't like that I've tried to fix it and can't make it go away. the goop that car guys use is aptly named 'disc break quiet', and scrubbed down the pads and caliper before I smeared on a healthy coat of it. I tossed out the old pads as soon as I put on the new set. ... I wonder what kind of material the OEM pads are, maybe I could try a new set of those? ive got EBC's up front and like 'em a lot. I did find that the front pin was a bit stiff, so I slopped in some anti-cease and checked that the caliper floats left/right like I think it should. but it is still squeaky, so i don't think that was/is the cause yeah, i've hand-sanded the pads and rotor a few times now with 180 and 150 grit. i'll try some hard braking from speed with only the rear on my way home from work today | ||

Hard braking the rear is a slide if you don't leave it in gear and apply the throttle. | ||

I got 3 good slow-downs in with only the rear brakes. got em hot enough to hue the brake rotor edge. no sliding or skidding, not that I wasn't trying to. these semi metallics don't have grip like the EBC pads did. still squeaked, but seemed it was a different squeak ... ? | ||

still squeaky, but only under light pedal pressure. and this is even after a looooong road trip with lots of rear brake use, especially coming down hart mountain on a gravel road. bike is on the lift awaiting a chain conversion i think I'm gonna try organic/stock pads next | ||

Squeak under light pedal. I would guess that the pin is hanging up and not letting it slide for even pad pressure on the rotor. |
