Hootowl - that's awesome. The kids around here speak great English - "Mistah, mistah, gimme chocolate! Gimme money! Gimme food, mistah!" I doubt they know what Buell is. Too bad. |

There has been an investigation into that Iraq picture above, they tried to get the Marine in trouble. People have taken the picture and change the wording like, he killed my dad and raped my sister, etcc.. |

Fellas, looks like next week I'll be the proud, proud owner of a Red 12R. Look, if I weren't hurting from the vasectomy right now I would get it right now. Hell, trying to see if I can go get it tomorrow. I have to head up to Chosa's HD/Buell in Phoenix area, 21\2 to 3 hr drive. |

Fixed the exhaust gasket on the S1WL and took it for a long ride (well, long for an S1WL with clipons and rear sets). Big mistake. Now I want to keep it. I'd forgotten how many looks this thing gets. In the 10minutes I was in civilized areas I got 2 jaw-drops a "wow" and several double-takes. Think that will happen with the Yamaha? Went to the local custard stand just in time for a bus/limo full of high-schoolers looking for prom. (I'd continue but I'm not sure how the censors would take it). I'm riding it up to the local shop tomorrow to leave it on consignment. I realize why Court was calling me names - he knew I had a service manual at home. "A properly adjusted chain should have between 1.5" and 2" of free up and down movement measured directly below the foot peg with the motorcycle unloaded." Hey DaveG - any chance I could get a notion of what Figure 7.1 looked like? "Caution The chain and sprockets should be replaced as a unit. Otherwise abnormal wear will result." Are they serious?

Didn't think you needed a vasectomy If you rode a Buell. Bits of me go numb after the first 100 miles on the S-1.. (to much information) |

>>>"Caution The chain and sprockets should be replaced as a unit. Otherwise abnormal wear will result." Are they serious? Yes. A worn one contributes to the wear of the complimentary ancillary device. Cheapskate...replace them both. That bike, may I say, looooooks Faaaaaaaabulous!

... Ouch Kevyn. .... you do know after my Dad had a slight altercation on his HD Cafe Racer,(circa 1980), he would give me the treat of exercising that bike. DAve |

Oooooh, I love the old XLCR! That's the bike that planted the Harley bug in me back in 1977. I always wanted one of those booming Cafe Racers. My Cyclone was as close as I could get. One day I'm going to build my own and call the XLCRR..., Cafe Racer Replica. edited by djkaplan on May 08, 2004 |

>Cheapskate...replace them both. Too late now, chain is on. Only has 8600mi on the sprockets and they look fine. Hope it's ok. Still need to replace the dual-Frankenstein horn setup the owner put on the RS with an original one. |

I sold my XLCR (1977) and my XR-1000 (1983) to the same guy on the same day. That bad? |

Not really , as long as they went to a good home and didn't get chopped , my XLCR lives in Seattle now , the XR1000 is close by and could be "re-aquired" for the right price ( way more than I sold it for !!). |

Sadat Bekal - Istanbul To this day, I know not why or how . . . but it is the most money I hae ever seen in a breifcase. The call was "I vant to buy your motorcycles"..."they are not for sale"....."price is no object"......"when can you pick them up". Delivery was made in a K-Mart parking lot. I was not about to show him where the rest of the collection was. I had the original bill of sale, all the articles about the XR-1000 being raced, stock carbs, exhaust, owners manuals, spare keys....he could care less about that stuff. Into the back of a Budget rent-a-van and gone. Weird?...you bet. But among the weird motorcycles and cash stories I've come accross this one pales. The best, to date, is Topeka, KS Realtor John Valley and the Sturgis. Remind me to tell you . . . |
