Hi all Just a quick question about the orientation of the rear gas tank mounting plate. Does the wider side of the plate face the front of the bike with the tapered side facing the rear of the bike? Also are the teeth supposed to bite into the rear tongue of the tank? I know this was a recall item "upgrade" Thanks Gian4 |

I believe I have mine so the wider part is at the front. The bottom plate only fits one way without smashing the plastic bodywork, so I just matched the top in the same direction. Those teeth do bite into the rear of the tongue. They'll leave some marks. I actually took mine off, I felt bad jamming those teeth into my tank haha. |

They also raise the tank, which is a good thing if you wish to use XB rocker boxes and PCV valves. My tank would not clear the PCV valves without at least the lower upgrade plate in place. |

The wide part goes forward. The teeth are designed to dig into the tank extension and not allow the tank to separate from the bike in a head on accident. |
