I need some guidance. I have a 2008 Ulysses XT (16K miles) that stalls when I turn the handlebars to the right. Bike starts up and runs fine until I turn the handlebars. When the bars are turned all the way to the right I lose the dash lights. Anyone ever experience this? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Keith |

When I had a broken ground wire. It did not look broken, but was attached only by insulation to the eye terminal at the steering head. |

Same for me. Broken ground wire where the wires wrap around the steering head. I had to open up the wire harness to find the wire. My bike didn't stall but all the gauges would sweep and the time and trip meters would zero out. |

My ignition ground wasn't bad but my cluster ground had an intermittent break in it. I'd lose my gauges and my trip. The only way I found it was a wiggle test with a test light, the meter didn't react fast enough nor visibly enough for me to catch it as it happened. The old school incandescent test light did the trick. |

Typical, when you turn the bars most of the flexing seems to happen right at the crimp connector on the head. I did what a few others have done, make a pigtail out of heavier flexible wire to connect to the steering head then splice to the ground wires in a place where they won't flex. It may not be a perfect solution but so far has lasted longer than the original wires. |

Only make left turns and the upside that you will always end up back where you started. |

Electraglider...I could still manage to get lost. Found two breaks...a black/white wire and a tan/yellow one. Flexing the first stalls the bike and the second takes out the Neutral light. I couldn't identify a problem with the ground wires but I'll try again before putting everything back together. |

My Electraglide had a similar problem that turned out to be a power wire that was shorting against the frame under the gas tank. So don't think it can only be a ground wire. |

Ligase, please share where the wires are located that had the breaks? i think there is an updated or modification for the cover(?) on the loom near the steering head? |

My problem was the cluster power wire now that I think about it. Bike never died, just got gauge sweep and a zeroed trip every time. |

Smorris, Take a look at my thread on this for the splice location. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=142838&post=1390093#POST1390093 |
