The ECM on my 06 XB12X is shot. I can tap on it with my finger and cause the engine to shut down. My engine is stock with the stock exhaust and air filter with the 07 inner air box (more air intake holes). I had to get my stock ECM re-flashed to the 07 map (by Dave's.. if anyone remembers him ) so it would run right. I'm thinking of getting the IDS ECM. The one I want says for stock engine, exhaust and K&N air filter, but in the description it says for "stock" air filter. I'm probably going to go with a K&N filter anyway since the stock ones are getting hard to come by. Anyone have experience with the IDS? Would this one work OK? : IDS ECMhttps://st-paul-harley-davidson-buell.myshopify.co m/collections/ulysses-models/products/copy-of-2022 79-replacement-buell-performance-ecm-2004-2007-xb1 2-models-l1b Also I'm wondering if ECMSPY will work with the IDS.. Otherwise I'll have to buy the $125.00 tool to re-set the TPS. |

IDS is the OEM that made every Buell ECM ever. After EBR went into receivership, IDS started selling the ECMs independently. The old free version of ECMspy does not work with them as it is not compatible with the newer firmware. You will need to use the newer ECMspy (pay a donation), TunerPro, ECMDroid, or use that CMI Lite tool to do the TPS reset after installation. Also, Buell dealers can do the reset too should you have a trustworthy one nearby. |

I have purchased 2 ECMs from them. My second one is currently being reflashed (for free) to the Race Pipe calibration. This is an ECM I bought and ran for a few months for a stock exhaust. In fact, word from them is, they have a Uly on a dyno and are reworking the maps before they send it back to me, as other users have experienced some issues with that calibration. My Drummer calibrated ECM worked like a charm from the get go. Great product, great service, great communication. Two big thumbs up from me. |

David, Good choice. I have purchased two from them. The one in my 08XB12XT was great. The one in my XB12Scg with Magnaflow and K&N has put the smile back under my helmet. |

Ourdee- Sorry to hijack, but do you mind explaining your muffler setup a bit? Which tune do you use for the ECM? |

Lil Red came with a Hawk on it. I do not like Hawk pipes. Lotta noise. Lot of lost power. First attempt to remedy it was an IDS ECM with a program for the Hawk. The same program sold for the Drummer. Helped a little but, could not make up for the power gutting the Hawk did to Lil Red. Over the winter I collected and assembled What is on Lil Red now. I bought a blown out the side Jardine RT-1 for about $35. I bought it for the header to can elbow and it came with the chin fairing brackets. I next bought a Magnaflow 11148, single 2 1/2" inlet to two 2" outlets. Next a pair of sharp 90 degree bend polished stainless pipes to be used as tips. I got lucky and found the two clamps I use on them for 50 cents each at a material rehab store. Some cutting and welding later and I was waiting for warm enough day a test run. And OMG did it run. It was like uncorking the beast. I was used to the gutted Hawk. First open road and it was up in first, second, and third. The Drummer tune, a proper pipe, and 40 degree air felt like 20 extra horse came out to play. I am a huge skeptic when it comes to "Seat Dynos", but I could not stop laughing, head bobbing and yelling "Oh-Yeah" and "It's Alive"! The muffler has a low tone but not a drone. I am very happy with it.

Ourdee, does that muffler follow the curve of the OEM muffler? Just wondering if you had to modify the mounting blocks to clamp it in. Also, do you have the part number on that muffler? Thanks Hugie |

The curve is different. I just clamped it in and have had no problems. Secret to the clamps that mount the mufflers on Buell is to not over tighten them. Snug is good. https://www.magnaflow.com/products?partNumber=1114 8 |

Dean Adams makes a very nice setup like this. Worth the money if you want to ride instead of weld. |

Just a quick update. I replaced my faulty OEM ECM with the IDS tuned for the factory exhaust (off highway only model). It makes a noticeable difference in increased performance as measured by my SOPD (Seat of Pants Dyno). Also seems much smoother at idle and at freeway speeds. A great fix and upgrade if you need an ECM. I also bought their CMI lite tool for resetting the TPS, reading trouble codes etc. It's easy to use and seems to work well. Highly recommended. P.S. This is with the stock air filter.. I have a K&N on order, I hope it will work with that. Edit: K&N filter works great with this. Can't tell the difference. Are you telling me that the standard TPS reset function (roll throttle three times with engine off) on the 08 and newer doesn't work on the IDS racing ECM? Why am only now hearing about this? Been using my IDS ECM for a few months now and I've noticed a slow decrease in available power over that period, from what it was when I first upgraded. When I first installed it, it seemed to clear up all my previous gripes about my 08XT. Now it no longer has the get-up-and-go that it had when I originally installed it. It is a bit warmer outside now though...and my XT has always been a dog in hot weather. |

You are just hearing it because you misinterpreted. All 08+ fuel injected Buells, including the EBRs, both with the stock and Race ECMs do the TPS reset automatically, or it can be manually initiated doing the method you describe. The 99-07s require software or the CMI tool. As for your power issue, I couldn't say off hand. |
