Wow . . .now there is your investment bike. I spent 10 days at a "top secret" gathering near Bryce Canyon showing that bike off to the European and Asian press corps about 3 months before it was released. The bike got tons of very positive reviews and there were 2 color combinations that sent the bike, aesthetically, into the stratosphere. The first was the Onyx with the PM wheels that we rolled out with the original introduction. I had one, in St. George, until a young stud from Harley-Davidson (Mike K) failed to recognize the necessary correlation between insane speed and navigating tight, decreasing radius, turns on a canyon road. Things would have been easier, in terms of recovering the gorgeous bike, if there had been a guard rail. The Harley-Davison media folks tried to hide the bike, under a tarp, in an abandoned warehouse adjacent to where we were keeping the 30 media bikes. I sneaked in about 2am with a camera. :-) Then . . . BretCo. got a bit of a free rein because the entire company, aided by the likes of Miller and Habbeger and the newly minted Battle2Win and a general popularity of Buell . . was on a roll so Smarzja and company went to work and came up with this gorgeous Carbon Fiber (you'll note that there are a variety of quality levels for CF . . this stuff is show quality) and Nuclear Blue combination. The bike not only works great . . . .deployed as a weapon of the weaving road . . but it's stunning top look at. Wow. | ||

I have #98 of this addition. Only 2200 mi on the OD. I worked at Bartels HD Buell 98-2001 and sold the #98 bike only to buy it back from a Triumph dealer in Simi Valley 17 yrs later. My name was still on the original sales receipt. This has to be my favorite in my collection. | ||

Bartel's used to be a lot of fun . . . I had my house on Speedway, in MDR, at the time and used to stop by there from time to time. That's really cool that you were able to sell it and get it back. That's a real collectible that would be a ball to unleash on the road. | ||

Dave... I warned you!!! Chris... Sorry, but I have the dual sport segment covered. The only bikes I would possibly trade for w cash on my side for the right bike, is either a S1000RR or an RC8R. Guys.... It is fathers day Sunday, tell your wives this is all you want this year & you will help with the dishes any time she asks!!!! PS... The fuel pump has been rebuilt w pump, press reg & low fuel sender. Those are obviosly the original tires.. if you are going to park it in your den than they will work just fine. If you plan to ride it I can mount & balance your tires for you just have them shipped to me. | ||

Court, I always loved the look of this bike. I swore I would never ride anything other than an S2. But when I worked at Bartel's, I used to give demo rides to prospective customers. Our demo bike was a '99 X-1 fitted with a Bartels pipe and race kit. OMG! Never say never!! Jst finished upgrading the shifter to an '01. | ||

Imgur.com is pretty good for image hosting these days, you don't even need to make an account but having an account makes things easier to manage. That said, I can resize them for you and host here if needed. | ||

I've seen those "update your account" pics a lot lately. They used to do something similar years ago making sure you logged in regularly to keep your pics viewable. I guess now they want you to upgrade to a paying level? I only joined photobucket a decade ago to post pics of my m40a1 return stocks on the hide. It is a great looking X1. | ||
