It appears that maybe it is coming from the rear suspension adjustment? I look up there and can't see anything obvious. Has anyone had a similar leak?

I think the tranny vent tube goes up the tail.
My X1 puked out about there when its crankcase seal overfilled the tranny.

Going down mount Washington with no rear brakes was interesting.

I just went out to look.
My 2008 has the tranny vent exit right about where your mystery puddle is.

I'd be making sure that is not battery acid. I don't like the way the bottom of the plastic tray is wet too. You could always dip a finger in it to smell if it is gear oil, oil, or acid.

Put a little baking soda on it to see if it foams up. Grease will just lay there.

It turns out it was battery acid. The PO had mounted the battery in such a way the the top corner was being pinched in the bracket instead of sitting flush inside. It did not appear to puncture the battery, but there was gouge in the plastic. I put some rescue tape over the whole corner and will keep an eye on it.

Woah! You better rinse that crap off with baking soda before it gets at the Aluminum.

I didn't think AGM batteries could leak. I thought that was the whole point of the damn things!

Yes @natexlh1000 I cleaned it up well and will keep an eye on it. I too am concerned that a "sealed" battery can leak, but at the angle the battery sits I'm not too surprised.

Is it really an AGM? I've never seen one with a removable door, where it says "DO NOT OPEN" on there. If they replaced it with a cheapo battery, its gonna leak laying on its side.

If it wore a little hole in the battery case you can take it out and clean it well with baking soda and water mix, then put some JB weld to it. Make sure it is not going to leak again before putting it back in the bike. If you don't fix or replace it immediately, that acid leak can destroy your bike, no less so than beating on it with a sledge hammer. It can get into wiring and it will eat aluminum and steel in an amazing hurry. Not something to be laid back about. It needs to get completely neutralized everywhere that it may have touched, clean it thoroughly, and fix it NOW.

Personally, I would throw out the battery. I wouldn't even play with it.

I wouldn't trust the battery there again. I would keep it and use it in a tractor or something.
My lawn tractor and back up generator inherits my old cycle batteries.

Since I have owned it, I have never bought a new battery for my tractor : )
