Getting some vibration in the handlebars of my 09 Uly. Front isolator? How do I check it? Looks like St. Paul HD has them in stock. Hard to replace? |

Bad isolator on left; good on the right: If yours is bad, it's not hard to change. Support the engine with a floor jack near the front of the muffler. Jack up slightly to remove the tension, and unscrew the big bolt. Then remove 2 bolts that secure mount to front head. Installation is reverse of removal; refer to shop manual for torque values. If your front isolator is OK, check the primary chain adjustment. A loose primary chain will cause vibration. |

^ PRIMARY chain. All air-cooled Buells have one. |

If you replace the front isolator put some anti seize on the threads of the big bolt. They are prone to rusting. |

Just replaced mine. I'm usually pretty apprehensive when it comes to getting into such projects, but this was a breeze. I stabilized the bike with the front wheel on a Harbor Freight wheel chock and supported the engine with a scissors jack. Bolts all came out easy enough, and the new unit bolted right into place. No problems. |
