I hate to admit it, but I no longer have any reason to tune in on World Superbikes. Thankfully, beIN also broadcasts the World Supersport races and I can cheer on PJ Jacobsen...

This is how I will remember Nicky#69..

He earned his immortality...

I am sad but at the same time very happy that he made all his dreams come true .....

In the end, everybody dies ....

Not all, unfortunately. Although he did win a race last year, he'll never be able to claim the World Champion title in the superbike series. At least, he is the only person NOT on a Kawasaki or Ducati to win a WSBK race in the past few years. That's something.

Nicky was one of my 2 favourite riders.....

As a rider , he was one of the best....

As a person , he was clearly the BEST in the motoGP paddock in the last 20years......I do not know before that , I was too young to follow the motoGP series...

I wish he had switched to WSBK 5 years earlier with Ducati.... He would have been a WSBK champion by now.......Intead he chose to stay with Honda in motoGP aboard a shity RCV.....

But all that has no meaning now....He is gone......But his name will stay in the motorcycle history for ever ......

For some reason there is a lot of bad luck to all American riders recently.....

Hey, please don't jinx PJ Jacobsen. He's still doing well in World Supersport!

It looks like they're slowly but surely getting the YZF-R1M up to speed in World Superbike. The question is, how long is Yamaha willing to waste Cameron Beaubier's talent over here in the States before they'll move him over to WSBK??

With Nicky gone, there are no Americans in either MotoGP or WSBK. All we have is PJ Jacobsen in WSS.

Jake Gagne will wildcard for Ten Kate Honda this weekend at Laguna Seca!

It will also be interesting to compare the laptimes between WSBK and MotoAmerica now that their specifications have gotten so much closer. I think the biggest difference now is Pirelli vs. Dunlop.

WSBK is terrible racing at the moment. Only the Ducs and Kawis are competitive...and only Chaz on the Ducati.

All I do now is fast forward on 2x or 3x and look to see if the leaderboard changes...it usually doesn't tho.

Okay, I'll have to watch WSBK this weekend. Although I'm not a Honda fan, I've met and spoken to Jake many times and he's a great guy. Hoping he does us proud!

Jake was out of the points yesterday but finished 12th and in the points today. Just heard Bradl is out for the rest of the season... hope they keep Jake in that seat.

Jake gets one last shot in Qatar. Hope he earns a permanent place on the team (though I'll miss chatting with him at the MotoAmerica rounds in Pittsburgh and Millville).

Jake is 14th in FP3, three positions better than his team mate Giugliano in 17th. Looking good so far.

In the points for both races! Hopefully, Honda will improve the bike and offer Jake a permanent seat in the series... then I'll have a reason to start watching WSBK again.

Even better if Cameron Beaubier gets the call for Yamaha but that is less likely since both van der Mark and Lowes did very well this year.

Jake Gagne!

Here is the entire translated text from the image above:

quote:

Jake Gagne will be the teammate of Leon Camier next season with the Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team. The American, who had been active as a substitute for the team several times last season, signed a contract earlier this week with the team based in Nieuwleusen.

The Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team has completed its driver rally for next season. After a few weeks back Leon Camier was already recorded, they reached an agreement with the American Jake Gagne earlier this week.

With the arrival of Gagne as the second driver next to Camier, the door for Stefan Bradl is finally closed and after one season the World Superbike adventure for the German is coming to an end. Where Bradl will ride next season is not yet known, according to the latest rumors, the former Moto2 world champion would still be in talks with Honda for a job as HRC MotoGP test driver.

Jake Gagne
Gagne, born and raised in Ramona - California, is 24 years old and finished last season in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship on the Genuine Broaster Chicken Honda CBR1000RR SP2 (Fireblade). Gagne won the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in the 2010 season at the age of 18, after which he made the switch to the CEV Moto2 Championship in 2011.

After the Spanish adventure, the American returned to his native country where he won the title in 2014 both in the Daytona SportBike Championship and the MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Championship.

During the American round of the World Superbike championship earlier this year, the American entered the Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team for the first time as a replacement for the late Nicky Hayden. During his incursions in the remaining games, Gagne scored a total of 24 World Championship points with two times a twelfth place during the final round in Qatar as the best result.

The Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team will finish its first winter test in the coming week (23-24-25 November) at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in preparation for the coming season. However, only Camier will come into action during this test.

Greg's latest update implies the above news MAY be a bit premature, but that Jake has been in talks and is very close to signing. Fingers crossed! Also hoping Honda and ten Kate can make that thing more competitive than it's been.

Still no confirmation on Jake Gagne, BUT there WILL be an American riding a Honda in WSBK next year: http://bit.ly/2ira1d1

Hoping Jake will make it two. Fingers crossed I'll have TWO reasons to watch WSBK next year (even if I'll have to swallow my pride and root for a Honda rider again).

Gagne is IN! http://tinyurl.com/ya7pq9yp

TWO Americans in the series for 2018. One can only hope Honda throws some serious development into the CBR1000RR so PJ and Jake can look good. Guess I'll start watching this series regularly again. I can't believe I'll be rooting for Honda riders in 2018, but there you have it...

I was fortunate to have been buds with guys associated with Jake's MotoAmerica Broaster Roadrace Factory team the last couple of seasons. They had ongoing issues all season long with the electronics on the Honda, even though they allegedly got trickle-down tech from the WSBK boys. Jake rode the SP2 most of the season WITHOUT ELECTRONIC AIDS, and still ran with the big dawgs.
Hopefully Honda gets the electronics sorted in the off-season, for both WSBK and RRF. Regardless, Jake is one helluva rider!

I had read some time ago that Jake was actually one of the most talented riders on the MotoAmerica/AMA Superbike grid but never had the best equipment to work with. The WSBK Honda should still be a step up from what he's been used to.

Jake is on track with Camier in Jerez and getting up to speed. Unfortunately, PJ's team (TripleM Racing) is not there because they haven't received all of the parts they need. They hope to be at the next test in Portimao next week.
