A couple weeks back I was riding and my bike just stalled out. I got a DTC and I apologize but I forgot which one. Anyway, after some searching online, I found the collapsed pin in the fuel pump harness connector under the seat. BINGO! That was exactly my problem. I was able to give the male pin a slight bend so it would make better contact and I was up and running again. Anyway, I was perplexed at how this could happen. I called EBR and they explained..... They were having a quality control issue with their fuel pumps so they tested all the bikes pumps. They did so by disconnecting this harness and inserting a test lead into the connector. Unfortunately, whoever did the test stuffed a large test probe into the female connector pin and damaged it by enlarging the hole. There is a repair kit for this issue. It's called FUEL PUMP ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR TERMINAL SERVICE KIT PART# C1180.16A0 Rev A and it sells for $8.79 from EBR. You get 4 new female terminals and the procedure is to unpin the 4 terminals from the connector, cut off the old terminals and install the new ones. You have to do all 4 because otherwise the wires will not be equal length. You have to be very careful and have the right crimper tool. If you screw up and need to cut back more wire, you won't have enough wire left to reach the other connector. I am going to try to unpin the connector and just bend the original one back into shape. If that fails, I'll order the kit. |

FYI: I called EBR on 6/20/17 and spoke with Mike in the Parts Dept and he said that they are still selling parts and plan to keep on selling into the future. You can submit your parts requests to parts@ebr.com Order form attached |
