My cluster occasionally reads over 15v causing the system voltage error to flash and messing up the tach, speedo, etc.. Took multimeter and it measures at 14.6 max while the cluster reads 15.3,15.4 so it's not over charging but the cluster thinks so. Any ideas? |

The cluster could take its reading from a different location in the circuit/system. It could be overcharging at that point, but not at the point where you measured it. Either way...no point in the system should read 15+V. |

How much faith do you have in your voltmeter? I bought a $200 BluePoint back in 1991, had it until 2012 when it was stolen with several tons of assorted stuff. I never felt it was as reliable as a quality manual dial face unit. The Craftsman digital I have now seems like it might be closer on D.C. electrical than the BluePoint was, but consistently reads .2 v lower than other meters I have. It sounds like your reg/rect is going bad. Separate the connector to see if there is any sign of overheating of the wires or terminals. |

My multimeter is also a bluepoint digital. Never had any problems with it before. Regulator is brand new sh847 from Jack. I have it hooked direct to battery per the instructions. Should I disconnect and wire back into where the original was wired? This bike is driving me nuts |

Sounds like the regulator is not doing its job. |

Well after some testing, I disconnected the regulator connected straight to the battery and respliced it back into the harness where the original was connected and voltage is staying steady at 14.5. Will test ride tonight and see how it goes |

Interesting. If it works for you that way, I'd be interested in what Jack has to say about it. I'm not going to be in a position to try the SH847 I just bought for several more weeks at least. |

Put a little over 100 miles on tonight and voltage stayed between 14 and 14.4 at all times from idle to full throttle. So hopefully problem solved |
