Nice. I bought my 1995 sportster used (with 300 miles), in 1995 and at the time I wanted the S2. The SO was still nervous about me getting a motorcycle (she had no idea what it meant to have been riding since I was 7), so she asked that I not go for the sportier bike until I rode for a while. She was still nervous when I bought my S3T about 4 years ago, but I explained that I was trying to ride the sportster in a way it was never meant to be ridden and I would be safer on the S3T. She now gets it. That is part of the reason that she has accepted the XB12R into the family. That and the smile on my face when she opens the back gate to let me in after my ride home from work. Being as one with your motorcycle is what riding is to me. On long 2 or 3 day trips there are times when everything is in sync, That is my zen experience. The mind is so clear and focus is effortless. This is why I ride and the Buell is the perfect platform. | ||

I was working the Buell display at the early IMS shows where the 1997 models were being promoted. A customer walked in to the display and looked at the video screen and asked "Is this the video with Erik doing a wheelie?" An employee from a sub-department of Legal, replied (something like) "A video promoting that type of riding wouldn't be appropriate" as an image of Erik on an S1 on one wheel screaming by - played on the screen behind him. If I remember right, the video was replaced in later IMS events that season. Court probably has the video in digital format - I think - I still have it in VHS. |
