Actually I have a great wife too... If I didn't already have more bikes than I know what to do with, and expressed lust for an SX, she wouldn't flinch. A purchase would be fully encouraged. Women like her are truly a gift from God... | ||

I agree with Ourdee. My wife supported me in everything I wanted to do, within reason. Lusting after a new bike, a new truck or a getting into a new business venture was however always "within reason" for her. Unfortunately I lost her to cancer a little over 2 years ago. | ||

Sorry to hear Matt. My wife got over me buying the SX fairly quickly. She knew I was lusting over one and knew I would eventually buy one. Once she calmed down enough for me to explain that I bought it for $7500 with 2 miles on it she understood a little better. Me telling her that I would sell one of my other Buells made her even less angry.......................... I just never told her WHEN I would sell one of my other bikes. She also if very aware that her husband has a strange infatuation with Buell Motorcycles. | ||

I finally sat on a RX at the dealer in Lincoln, CA. Not uncomfortable as the clip-ons on my old Duc. And they offer test rides on their website I saw after I got home. Price is 1500 off msrp. The RX is red of course. The SXs are yellow, black and red. Didn't check mfr dates but it is a new dealer so I think 2016. | ||

My 2016 EBR 1190SX arrived yesterday. What a beautiful machine! Unfortunately it rained for 36 hours prior to delivery, turning my 1.3 miles of dirt road into muck up to 6" deep in places. Hopefully things will dry up over the next few days.      | ||

Back in 2008 while my wife was visiting her family in Chicago area, I decided to act upon all of the motorcycle research I had been doing for many months and bought a new 08 Ulysses. I am on the fence. My dilemma is that I found a '15 SX $7900 and a '17 SX for $9990. Both with under 10 miles, aka "new". The '17 comes with a 1 year warranty. Is the '17 going to be a better bike? Or are they the same? I have not been able to find anything to tell me that they are different. Thank you for your input. | ||

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head as a change from the '15 to the '17 would be the two piece tail design that should eliminate the tail piece cracking under heavy load. (I haven't seen many instances of this in the '14s and '15s, but that's one less thing to worry about with the '17). Personally, I don't think you would have $2k worth of issues that would justify paying that much more for a warranty, but that's the gamble. (Now if it's a yellow or matte grey '17 I would go for it regardless of logic - they look awesome!) | ||

Thanks for your input. 2 more thoughts, a)the '17s might be the very last year of the Buell heritage. b) these machines were built by people that knew that they were out of a job. btw- the '17 is matte grey. Very difficult decision. | ||

a) You're right. The 2017s might be the last of the Buell heritage. b) Knowing the type of people that worked for Erik, I'm 100% positive that there will be no faults in the assembly. They have the same dedication to quality as always and would be incapable of turning out anything that would be sub par. If anything, I bet they put extra attention into the assembly of the last machines built to showcase the quality of the brand. I've met a few of the people who worked for both Buell and EBR. Every one has been what I would consider a true Class Act. They all love what they do, and they do it well. No matter which one you buy, I bet you'll love it. Crusty is right on. If the '17 is the matte grey, go with the '17. I've seen that color on a SX in person, and it looks great. (and then go find a matte grey RX to match). | ||
