Well after being away from Buells for 3 years, I have finally made a comeback. Tried a few bikes in between, 2004 Honda vfr800, 1999 xr600r supermoto, 2006 Kawasaki z750s, 2008 Aprilia shiver, 2011 Kawasaki ninja 1000. I just had to get back on a Buell, so I was able to find some one interested in trading their 1125r for my ninja 1000. Here she is, 08 1125r with 14k miles and only modification so far is a race ecm.

Congratulations, I have an 08 as well. (Stock exhaust with the appropriate Race ECM) In my opinion the ECM is the most important upgrade to make. Low RPM's are still a bit dodgy, but it's so much better than the OEM. |

Excellent bike. I just sold my Jardine RT5 and put on a Barker's with the race ECM. WOW! What a difference...from idle up. It just runs perfectly from bottom to top. Even the idle is better.....Ebay...do it. BTW, I put in the decibel killer tube and turned the "spout" tip to face down, and it's quite acceptable. Loud but not annoying. |

Thanks for all your comments!! "Time for valve service has it been done yet? Nice clean bike I have one realy like it" The previous owner said that the valve service had been done before him but that would have been at 11-12k which seems early. "Excellent bike. Loud but not annoying." I actually didnt like how alot of the exhausts looked and the barkers was my second choice. I ended up ordering the APH Performance Engineering exhaust. Hoping to get it this week and to have it on. |

Make sure you get the race ecm to match the exhaust. The difference is well worth the cost and effort. Runs strong everywhere...so much better than the stock ecm. |

Well I ran into a small issue yesterday. I got to work and just as I turned off the engine, the speedometer shut off. I turned the key on and off and still nothing. The headlights turn on but nothing else and the bike cranks but wont start. I had the bike towed home and started digging around in the wiring. Turns out one of the wires to the ignition had come undone but it looks like it had been repaired before using a butt crimp. I ended up sodering the wires together, heat shrink wrapping it and then electrical taping all of the wires together back into the loom. My question is why just that one wire was broken in the past? I searched but couldn't find any other info. Is there a common issue with the wiring getting rubbed through in the ignition portion? |

Yep: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/716369.html?1373169263 If you do take to shaving it down so as to provide more clearance on full-turn, best undo and remove the the two bolts holding the fairing to the head tube. This is very easy to do. Drape a cloth underneath the fairing/ on top of the radiator-pods and let it rest there. This will give you more access to the brace so that you don't knick wires when shaving metal. Don't ask me how I know that. DB. (Message edited by Desert_bird on April 28, 2017) |

Well I finally had a bunch of parts come in and had some time to get the bike together. Unfortunately I only thought of taking one picture. I bought a double bubble smoked screen, clutch/brake levers, grips, tail tidy and APH Engineering exhaust. Here is how she looks now.

Beautiful! Welcome back to the family. Heads up on your clutch cover... that's the early Rev A design I believe, which was prone to weeping fluid out the bottom which will damage the paint. Some is already visible in your last picture. The clutch slave cylinder/seal was also prone to failure, resulting in a rather sudden loss of clutch pressure... I know because it happened to me twice (Rev A, then Rev B)! Might want to look into getting that upgraded with the latest (Rev C, methinks) cover and the EBR clutch slave cylinder, if it's still available, or the aftermarket unit from Oberon, for maximum longevity and minimum problems. The slave cylinder was the reason for the leaking fluid. The cap has a hole in it to weep out of. |

Thanks for the heads up. Ive done about 500 miles so far and havent noticed any moisture near that cap so it maybe have been from before. The clutch also feels really strong. Ill just keep an eye out to see if I notice anymore leaking. |

I don't think you will need a new clutch cover, only the clutch slave cylinder upgrade is required to fix the "clutch weep". |

By the way, a very beautiful 1125r there. And, of course, welcome back.
