This is one of those simple little things that probably has a very easy fix, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. When my m2 is warming up, or when riding it the seat screw that comes up through the tail piece vibrates loose leaving the seat feeling very loose. Is there a common fix for this? Any ideas? Make it tighter? Use a lock washer? I'd suggest loctite but that would get in the way when you wanted to take it off... | ||

yea, I've tried tightening more but then at a given point it releases. Between the seat pan and cushion (inside the seat) it has a sort of washer that it threads in to. I think maybe that washer is stretched? sort of a strange little mechanism. I don't think it's tight enough for locktite to work. I'll keep trying. Thanks | ||

Drill a hole in the head of the screw and safety wire it. The design flaw is that the heavy part of the screw is below the threads. Gravity makes it loosen. The riders weight constantly shifts, so that means so does the nut the screw is threaded into. | ||

The threaded area in the seat widens over time. I managed to bend mine tighter and it helped. | ||

I have a steel plate that the captive bolt screws into. They are used on Corbin seats. Instead of being buried down inside the seat pan, Corbin screws the plate to the bottom of the seat pan. I think that these plates can be used to fix the Factory seat but I have not tried it. I think it could be riveted on top. I sent one to somebody along time ago for them to try but never heard back if it worked. I have several that I will give to people if they need it. Direct fit on Corbin seats. Should be doable on factory seat. | ||

What i did with my M2: I pulled the pin out of the bike put it in the vise and put a small bend in the threaded portion. It would cause the threads to bind, creating a mechanical "lock". Not a lot of bend is needed, just enough to create the bind. | ||

Wow what a great response, thanks guys. Jim2 the plate idea is just what I need. I had tried to do a similar fix with a washer, but couldn't find one with the correct thickness. Is there supposed to be a keeper type of washer that goes over the screw to keep it from completely falling out? That is how my S1 is don't know if they are the same. Just reread it, I guess you are not loosing the screw, just that it is loosening. (Message edited by Blks1l on April 17, 2017) | ||

Blks1l yea it sounds like it's the same. It's not losing the screw that is the issue, it's the seat loosening up that bothers me. I'm going to try Jim2's solution. Sounds like that may do the trick. Thanks, Steve | ||

Thanks! Unfortunately, minimum is 15 @ $26.60 + $6.00 post, + international shipping charges to Canada. I'll try to uncover something locally before I find out the extra charges amount to an additional $30 (like I paid for the $6 worth of bolts I bought last year. Appreciate the help brother! | ||

Hey Resinears, I just went on the Bisco Ind. website, the company that distributes this widget and according to their website they have locations in Canada. Seems that maybe you could pick up the minimum there and list them on Badweb for other Canadian Buellers. Just an idea in case Jim2 has run out. Steve | ||

Thanks S1owner, I've located a supplier about 5 miles from my house. I'll give them a call this week to see about picking up a few. The receptacle is only 1 3/4inches by 7/8 inch and flat, so maybe they could be sent through the mail in an envelope to other Badwebbers I'll check. Steve | ||

I have successfully mailed them in a regular envelope. I first wrap one in a 4 X 6 inch piece of printer or notebook paper. Fold and tape. Keep it flat. This keeps the metal from tearing the envelope if you were to just drop it in an envelope. | ||

Okay, so I probably owe everyone who may be interested in this thread an apology for taking so long to post. Anyway here is the deal. I received 20 of the fast lead captive screw receptacles just like the picture that Jim2 posted. The cost with shipping came out to $1.99 each and the Post office is going to charge .70 because it can't go through the normal sorter. So I have 16 left for anyone interested you can either send me $5.00 through Paypal friends or donate the same to Badweb. I figure if I get a couple bucks back I'm okay with that.
