Will the Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner set up fit my 2000 S3? Or if you have a Ham Can kit you would like to sell, let me know... |

If it's for early XL (pre-04, I think), it should do fine. But...it looks a little "Harley Evo" to me. Are you going for "just not breadbox"? I've always been partial to the race hamcan (naturally)...but the Forcewinder setup also looks nice to me on a Buell. Somebody's selling one on eBay right now - not mine but I did a quick "buell race" search. The CF has been painted black but it looks intact and it is the factory piece, so if that's the look you want...it's an option: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buell-Race-Air-Cleaner-Kit -91422-99Y-S3-S3T-/112347575655?hash=item1a286ff56 7:g:2jMAAOSwSlBY1tbr&vxp=mtr |

I saw that and have added it to my watch list. I don't mind the bread box... that much.. Just looking at what's out there. One minute I want to put a pipe, air cleaner and ecm in it... and the next, I want to leave it stock... |

For what its worth...the only bikes I have now that have aftermarket (Buell race) exhausts on them are the short-ride hooligan bikes, S1W and M2. Anything I ride for more than 45 minutes at a stretch, has stock exhaust. Maybe I'm getting old. Maybe it's because I own a sound company and need my hearing. I don't know. But...the race muffler is off the S2, replaced by stock. Drummer is off the Uly, replaced by stock. 1125 has NEVER been modified - damn thing is fast enough as it is! Sold the aftermarket stuff years ago; the only one I kept "just in case" is the supertrapp that was on my S2 when I bought it. I'm keeping that mainly for nostalgia, since it was a pretty popular mod for the S2 back in the day. But...the aircleaner gives a nice little "honk" when you whack the throttle and won't muck with the EFI. And admittedly, it does clean up the look a bit. |

...and if the air cleaner is a "maybe"...they're getting pretty rare so if you find one and have the $...get it, even if it sits on a shelf and waits for you. |

I bought my X1 new from the dealership with ECU and loud pipe. It was more quiet than my '79 sportster but that's not saying much. Later on, I managed to find a stock pipe and put that on and found that it ran terribly. I had to actually downshift to pass someone on the highway. There is a divot in the torque right in the middle where you would want to drive. My engine seemed to run hotter for some reason. This may be BS since as you know, there is no gauge. I ended up putting the "Daytona Boss" can back on and declaring it as a loud bike with a shrug. My XB12X runs great with a quiet muffler so if I need to be sneaky, I take that out instead. |

Not sure on the Arlen one but a few of us have used these with success: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231941323395?_trksid=p2060 353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I hit my knee on it sometimes but doesn't bother me nearly as much as I was expecting and wow does my M2 look better. They are on Amazon also if you prefer to order from there. |

If your X1 is tuned for the boss muffler and you put a stock pipe on, it will run poorly. Get a stock ECM and it'll run correctly. |

I know I've said it before, but: While I like the looks of the forcewinder on my Sportster, it just doesn't seem to fit the lines of my S3T. |

I like the Buell race AC myself, i don't care for the force 90 degree bent forward style at all. just how i am as i think it would not flow as well with 90 degree bend in it. only thing i can see about using the sportster filter is you might have leg clearance proble as the buell ham can is offset forward. |

Robertl, can you post a pic? I was looking at that on Ebay and wondered what is would look like on a tube frame. |

As requested..... I am 6'2" with 34" inseam. I thought it would bother my knee but not nearly as much as I expected. (ps: this was the initial testing so I had not installed the breather bolts yet.)
