Yup. My 2008 was delivered to me with fouled plugs. Got it to run on one cylinder and thought it would clean out on the way home. Didn't. Brought it right back and picked it up the next day. |

As an update to this topic: up to now i've covered ~2300km since this second repair and the bike is running good. I'm keeping an eye to oil consumption because i think it is a little high (~130ml for 1000km) and i'm hoping it will decrease. I also have to replace the oxygen sensor because the CEL was flashing at constant highway speed. Upon checking the trouble codes, the check engine light was flashing code 13. I have some road trip plans for this year with this bike so i hope i will not run into major issues again. |

I used to think my 2008 had high consumption but it seems to be more like it eats oil fast to a point and then tapers off towards the bottom of the dipstick. My old Dodge van used to do that too. 5Quarts for oil change, it eats the first quart in a week. then doesn't consume anything after that. |

If you fill a Uly up to the full mark it will blow it out the breather until it reaches 2 XX's. The dipstick is not accurate. Check your air box if your rocker vents are still connected, that's where it blows excess oil. I recommend when you change the oil to use only 2.5 quarts and take a 20 minute ride and then leave the engine running, remove the dipstick and wipe it off. Shut off the engine and check the oil. That's the most accurate way to do it. Whatever the level is on your stick, consider that your full mark. |

I think the inside of these tanks/swingarms are shaped really weirdly so that if you load the bike up, it will read differently too. It's a dry sump bike. If it has oil, you're ok technically. More oil is cooler oil though. |

On these bikes, the scavenge side of oil pump always has a greater capacity than feed side. 30 or 40 % greater I think. But that oil is always aerated ,etc so it's not a solid flow like feed side. When I get home from a ride, I let bike simply idle for half a minute before shut off, that ought to get most oil back to tank that's gonna go there and then check level. Oil level Check is right after shut off point. Doing it same way each time provides consistency in level checks. That's important for an ocd guy! Lol! |

Dan_m, My Useless has been doing the same thing but it may not necessarily be the 02 sensor. Try a different gas station and dump in a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil. Mine bucked a few times after around 50 miles, the idle got a little weird and so far, no codes in 110 miles. Before, it was 02 sensor flickering/steady CEL and I'd just replaced it a few hundred miles ago, too. FWIW, I switched from the local convience store gas to Sunoco. Wife's car and my Triumphs were running funny, too, on the Rutter's gas. |
