Not to all Buells...just this one: https://greenbay.craigslist.org/mcy/6082461816.htm l I only ride this one about 2-3x per year. It seems like a shame to have it sitting under cover. |

What a great American Motorcycle. I just can't get enough of the S1W, but I'd be surprised if it makes the 5200 asking. No offense meant, I just don't think the market is there. |

KC...that's the great thing about not needing to sell it. I have my "I'll sell it for this" price. If nobody steps up to the plate, I'll keep it for another year. At this point, it's not going to depreciate any further. |

Your price is too low..I use your quote all the time but MY X1 doesn't leave for a penny under $7k so it's parked on stands on static display in my heated/carpeted basement room. It's fun to get drunk and race it....nowhere.My point is..DON'T sell it |

Dennis: At $5,200 I'd sit firm and the bike would be in my living room if it didn't command that. I have such a bike right here next to me . . . not nearly as pretty . . but arguably one of the most significant Buell in existence. That's a stunning example of an S1WL. Court |

Thing is, if you ride it , it will self destruct. Take a picture and sell the heap of shit. |

I'm looking at an S1WL with 35k miles. A few upgrades, he has all the stock parts. Heads supposedly reworked 6k miles ago. He's asking $4k. I'm not too familiar with the S1, though I have an S2 and S3, it would round out the collection. Do they need the upgraded primary adjuster and "bronze" oil pump gear too? Is this price in line? The KBB guides are no help on these old buells IMO, so much is condition related. |

If it's a true '98 S1W, and its in good shape...$4k is a steal. These are, literally, a 105hp engine with a seat (well...most of a seat; IIRC even Erik referred to it as a "one cheek seat"). I also have the S1/2/3 trifecta. The S2 is the "gentleman's Buell" - nice long legs, sexy curves, extremely competent yet fairly refined. More like an old E-type Jag. The S3 (even though my personal one is currently partially rebuilt and not functioning, I have spent lots of seat time on them) is simply an updated version of the S2. Not nearly as exotic, and a little more "mainstream" as far as ergos and fit and finish...but still relatively refined. The S1W? Is a brute. Shakes. Rattles. Makes noise. You think "let's g..." and it's GONE. Torque. Power. Excellent gearing. Amazing handling. Refined? Nah...but neither was a Hemi Cuda. Absolutely glorious. I bought my S1W (triple white, also known as "Liberace" white) in 2006, with 1,100 miles on it. Race aircleaner, V&H muffler, solo tail...otherwise totally stock. My guess is the person bought it...and it scared them. Fine by me. Paid $6500 for it and haven't looked back. I have about 10,000 miles of smiles on that bike now and don't think I'll ever part with it. I swapped the V&H crap for a true Buell race kit (header and muffler) and scored a race ignition...put an LED taillight on it...and ride it like I stole it every time I thumb the starter. It is, truly, a hooligan. Google "just go ride the motorcycle". It should turn up an original promo video. If that doesn't get your blood flowing...and you may notice hints of what will become the Ulysses in his concept for the S1... |

I have mine for sale. I have(had?) a buyer for it. unfortunately the tank which has been nearly flawless for almost 20 years developed a few tiny blisters in the last couple of weeks. A few weeks ago I pulled it off the stand to replace the winter fuel (which of course had been replaced last fall). Last weekend when I went to start it, I opened up the filler door and there was a lot of pressure released. I checked the vent tube and could not blow air thru it. I traced it back and found that somehow the vent tube had gotten pinched near the swingarm. It had to have happened when I was moving the bike around, off and then back on the stand. To think I caused this pains me to no end. This bike looks nearly new, it is gorgeous. I emailed the buyer to let him know as it would be a 2000+ mile round trip for him. I have not heard back from him, so the bike could be available if anyone is interested. |
