Getting the Uly (08) back on the road after a much too long hiatus. The front brakes are getting close to needing replacement. After much searching it seems the consensus is EBC HH or Lyndall. I run the HH's on the M2, great feel, bites hard and don't fade. A bit hard on the rotor but overall I like them. Given the Uly sees a fair amount of dirt, I'm not sure the extra bite would be a good thing on loose surfaces with our small front wheels and front end geometry. Anyone else run their 90/10 bikes closer to 70/30 - 60/40 and if so, what are you guys running in the front binders? Honestly, the stock pads have done me well on everything from peg dragging 2 up trips to dirt bike trails...and only in the loosest conditions have I gotten any front end lockup. I had Lyndall gold's for a bit. Decent. No fade, no major issues...till one spirited ride, 2-up. I forget the name of the ride, but it was a Buell event in Altoona PA. My wife was on the back, bike was doing well enough till all of a sudden, there was no fade...there were just NO BRAKES. None. No warning, no pulsing, no fading, no squeaking. Just...no stopping, going hot into a turn, 2-up. I went back to OEM pads and doing just fine. |

Thanks Rat, that's a surprise I'd prefer to avoid. I'll most likely stick with OEM's as they've served me well thus far, unless there's a strong consensus to something else. My bike seems to be an anomaly, no pulsating brake issues, no belt failure, and still running the original orange seal rear bearings despite numerous water crossings, living outdoors unprotected for a year and one heavily laden 2 up trip from Maine to South Carolina and back. Why rock the boat? She's a keeper for sure! |

I have run the Lyndall Gold pads for many tens of thousands of miles on my '06, no problems at all with them. I have the EBR 5mm rotor. Rat, I did that ResRide in Pa with Toona and company several years ago. Maybe you picked up road debris or something. Run over a glazed donut perhaps? |

I've run the stock, Lyndall's and EBC HH pads and the EBC feels the best. I've chased Pwnzor all over North Georgia and they never faded. I've also ran the Jeep trails of Colorado and they have always felt good in the dirt, and my dirt bike still has drum brakes! Send a PM to Buellish, I think he might have what you need and a good price. |

I had the pulsing issue with the stock pads. I'd clean up the disc, with fine emery, but the pulsing kept coming back. At about 12k, I got tired of it and went with EBC. No more pulsing. I haven't noticed excessive "bite", they seem pretty linear, to me. They don't seem to wear the disc notably. 18k w/EBC. 90/10 (roughly) for me, but probably more off road than most ADV's. |

I've had two sets of the Lyndall Golds on my Uly. I have a bit of a problem with pulsing on the 5mm EBR rotor. I think I'll try a set of the EBC's and see if the pulsing goes away. I've tried a bunch of hard stops with the Lyndalls but the pulsing doesn't completely go away. It's annoying. |

I have had both Lyndall's and the EBCs. Hated the Lyndall's from day 1. For me, all initial bite was lost and I had to pull the lever in MUCH more to achieve similar braking power. It was disconcerting, actually. Switched to EBC and never looked back. Those pads, plus an EBR rotor, took my Uly to 76k miles. |

I've been using pads from D2Moto VBP172-f-6 2006-2010 Buell XB12X Ulysses Kevlar Front Brake Pads All I can say is they work for me and the price is right. |

If you don't want the initial bite of the EBC pads, go with Ferodo. |
