Only possible negative is the 8 LB trigger pull. Didn't bother me a bit. I like the wrap-around smooth steel trigger.
I own one, one of the first gen ones. Meh. It has never not fired but the trigger is really heavy and in .40cal there is a bunch of recoil. If you youtube it there are a few springs you can remove and lighten the pull a few lbs. Haven't went nuts and changed the recoil spring yet.
I would ditch it but I got it for so cheap its a truck gun.
The Springfield XD platform is way better in my opinion if your looking for a striker fired gun Plus they have this rebate going on http://www.springfieldpromo.com/
I was doing some accuracy testing beforehand and was not very impressed. With CCI Mini-Mags I could get a good cluster together, though with regular fliers at 25 yards. Our other 22's can make a ragged hole at that distance, so it was a bit disappointing.
Sunny and I had a discussion last night about Cali-legalizing our magazine-fed rifles or just swallowing the bitter pill and registering.
Arizona is looking better and better every day but I have a couple years before pulling the plug on the job (though we also discussed being based in AZ and doing the consulting gig)
Sigh... though at least my Sig 1911 follows the same pattern as THE 1911 in .45 ACP so is CA-legal from the get-go.
New York State's "SAFE" act, passed in the middle of the night in secret because Emperor Cuomo said he didn't want a run on the gun stores when the unconstitutional law was unmasked, started a registration program for future concentration camp inmates arbitrary feature objects.
The response from the State's Citizens has been pretty weak.
Apparently almost all decided to sell their guns out of state ( as required by law ) instead of telling Andrew the First where to send his storm troopers.
The clerk at the local Field & Stream store tells me very accurate, inexpensive, bolt action rifle packages with scope are very big sellers. As are laser rangefinders and free ballistics apps that helps you make one shot kills at 700+ yards.
Seriously, the Savage packages are amazingly accurate, especially for the price, and the new Ruger American rifle is right up there with match grade accuracy and very low prices. ( apologies if I didn't mention other, very good brands )
With modern precision machining, and a serious dedication to quality control, we live in a Golden Age of precision marksmanship.
The entry level rifle of today is equal or better, in accuracy and reliability, than the most expensive custom rifle of my youth, or early adulthood. Admittedly, FRP stocks and matte finishes don't have the classic beauty of hand polished deep blue steel and oil finished select walnut.... but for a bit more money, that's in the catalog too.
The point is there were sales in the x-millions of the illegally banned items. People had a choice to register or sell. No "domestic" sales are allowed. A NY subject is forbidden to sell to another. All sales must be to citizens of free states.
Registration was far below x-million so the rest..... must have been sold out of state.
We have to ask, what is more dangerous to our nation? ISIS who murders, rapes, and sells slaves, or leftist journalists who want us to be slaves?
Just a reminder, the Democrats started hating the NRA after the NRA started giving marksmanship and gun safety training at black churches in the South.
It really cramps your style when you and your fellow Klan members want to spend a fine evening drinking and lynching your neighbors.... when they shoot back.
It is really that simple.
Of course, now that the Democrats have embraced full marxist-alinskyite ideology, they also hate the NRA because it's American. And because armed peasants are not easy to rule, no matter if you call yourself King or Commissar.
I've been watching and reading a lot of anti gun propaganda lately. Their arguments are weak and logic is non existent. Logical fallacies abound and there's emotional pandering throughout.
The party of "science" and "progress" looks like anything but.
But if you watch the news carefully (I've recently been watching quite a bit of Fox News), you'll see the snowflakes also "need to get guns" so their riots are "more effective".
Ultimately, even though the current sales pitch uses the "inanimate objects are evil" tactic, it's not really about guns per se. Knives, bats, slingshots, any means of violence ( and protection against violence ) is to be banned. See the calls to ban kitchen knives in England. They are ahead of us by a few decades on the "disarm the serfs" movement.
It's the monopoly on violence demanded by The State. Here I hit a moral split. I don't want gangsters to shoot up my streets, I understand the fear in a world where the police cannot protect you, personally.
Not only is it impossible for cops to be everywhere and stop crime, it's frightening to think of a world where they could. It's also a hard fact that the police are not legally bound to protect you. From a sad case of girl murdered by ex despite court orders and horrifying calls to the cops to come save her before he killed her. Went to court and the suit of shunned responsibility denied. Cops are not obligated to save you. ( such an obligation would mean cops would be unable to help anyone, too busy trying the impossible )
In short, most of the good cops can do is be a visible symbol for civilization.
Obama's contempt for the Rule of Law, his support for street thug Revolution, hatred for police ( communist druggie.... no cop love there, rumored closeted homosexual, ditto. ) & basic desire to wreck civilization so to replace it with authoritarian theocracy. .... well, lets just say respect for cops is at a new low... on a par with the ( same bad actors anti-American ) Vietnam era. ( pprotests and riots...... same ideology )
The symbol has been deliberately tarnished and covered in thrown filth.
In the absence of civilization's protections it falls on each of us to protect each other. Few have the gift of talent to. Few have the character to do violence in the service of their fellows. ( as opposed to the predatory characters..... fortunately also few, who prey on those without the nature ( & training ) to defend themselves.
Which circles around to "when will we citizens have the right and permission to protect ourselves, our families, and our fellow citizens?"
A cop isn't in my house if I get robbed. Not in my car if I get jacked. Not in the alley if someone tries to grab some of the $10,000 worth of equipment I use for shows as I'm loading my truck.
I am.
And I keep hoping against hope that the republic de Marylanden will change its laws regarding the second amendment. Not based on anything...no news supporting upcoming change or anything like that. Just hoping common sense will take over.
Unfortunately I think I know better than to believe it'll happen...but that's why it's called "hope".
Absolutely Aesquire. It's the old "nobody is coming for your guns" rhetoric the zombies love to repeat.
No, in essence they're attacking the right to use them in any regard other than those of "hunters and sportsmen"...which is what they claim is the real purpose of the 2nd.
That's right folks. The Constitution was meant to enforce "reasonable government restrictions" on our rights, the 2nd Amendment applies only to a well regulated (I.E. government controlled) organized militia such as the police, military, and national guard, and only the rights of hunters and sportsmen are protected so long as their arms meet some arbitrary "sporting purpose" standard.
I have noticed the Black Lives/war on cops has died down. My take is its because they no longer need to energize that voting block. They literally destroyed city blocks and got police killed with that nonsense. Unbelievable that this can happen here.
It's like nobody has paid attention to past and present history and we're supposed to blindly follow the regressive ideologies and oppressive policies this country was founded to prevent.
The followers of the Marxist cults tell you The Holy State gives you rights.
Our LAW says rights come from God. They don't depend on the government but pre date it's creation by man.
They reject the notion that there is a higher power. The man made creation of the State IS The New Theology.
And that is a jealous god, that can tolerate no other. ( all power to the elite, the Enlightened, the priesthood of The Prophet Marx. & their creation, the Green cults )
As a Pagan I'm not pushing Christianity. Nor am I blind to it's faults and historical abuses. But knowing something isn't perfect doesn't keep me from seeing the good, too.
The Church no longer burns witches. Officially. Exorcism is still a thing. And the Last Pope may well reboot the Inquisition as a branch of the KGB but that's his demonic perversion of faith not by the Book policy.
When I say your rights are God given I use the language of our Founding fathers and fully agree with the philosophy behind it. Our rights as a concept of individual freedom and responsibility pre date Rome, or Christianity. I don't recall "Zues given rights" as a quote but the idea is there.
Two years ago Kansas passed "Constitutional" carry for concealed. Kansas has for as long as I can remember been an open carry state.
Part of the law was to give some state institutions (colleges, Universities, Hospitals...etc) a two year period to either accept the change or to make their facilities secure with armed security and metal detectors. The liberal college types are having meltdowns over this now because they know they cannot provide those. The liberals are now focused on state hospitals, such as the Kansas University Medical center and saying they need MILLIONS to secure these locations and the state does not have the funds, so "WE" better amend the law. Which is bunk!! I have no concern about walking into the Med Center and having law abiding free citizens carrying concealed.
Although I guess liberals feel that if they carried a firearm they would be shooting people at every chance so naturally a conservative would do the same.
They will continue try to force their believes onto the free.
I was amazed at how well they work. Plug and play. Length can put you in that sweet 2700 to 2900 fps spot. Keeps the over all package to the length of an old GAU-5. Even Illinois residents can get one in the mail. I've been toying with a one point sling. At the end of the day I always return to a more traditional shoulder sling. It was what I was trained up with.
