My 2015 1190SX is the best bike I have owned yet, but while on the freeway yesterday it just quit. Very dangerous. After 3-5 minutes it restarted and ran fine. Showed a fault code "new engine". It had stalled twice before and restarted right away but no code and not in the middle of rush hour. Any idea why? |

After email with the tech@ebr they guess it is the $700 fuel pump. Sad really, not sure what to do with the bike. I don't want to spend thousands to try to find the intermittent problem and really don't want to be trapped in freeway traffic in between traffic lanes again! (Lane splitting in California is legal). A kind gravel truck driver stopped traffic so I could push off the freeway. Any alternative to stock pump? Bike has 400 miles on. |

I've experienced my bike shutting off when decelerating to a full stop. It will then shut off, but fire up without issue. I've never had it die at speed. Is the consensus that it is also fuel pump related? I'm under warranty, so I'd like to nip this in the bud. I have a 2015 SX. |

Craig's link looks like the way to go. When you buy a fuel pump from EBR, you're getting the fuel pump "assembly", which includes the casting that slides into the frame opening, the low fuel light level switch, wiring, hose section AND the actual fuel pump. The pump at the link is just the fuel pump, which is basically an off-the-shelf automotive item, and that's all you need. You pull your old assembly out, swap out the pump, and reinstall it. People have been doing this with Buell XB and 1125 fuel pumps for a few years now. |

Hugh, I bought one off EBAY for the 97 Harley for about $17 and it would probably work for the 1190 bikes. I had to finagle the filter sock and in tank mount a bit but it works just fine. Saved over $200 going the EBay route. |

I sent an email to tech@ebr.com asking for them to hurry up with a motorcycle the other 99% of us want. |

The 96S1 has 108K miles, the CR 24Kmi. these bikes need to be sorted out, fact. the s1 had so many recalls... crappy leaky showa shock had an undersized reservoir so the bladder blows in no time... the 09 1125's have their issues... the HD-Eric Buell pattern: get craptastic deals on alibaba.com sourced parts. retail with costly fixes... the psychological bonding between owner and maker becomes the death of 100 cuts. HD = hundred Dollars. EBR = Extremely Bent Retail. $400.00+- for a rotor fix... $250.00+- for a stator... $180.00+- for a CE605B regulator... ______________________________________ $830.00 to make it better... Need a 3 bearing rear wheel? $?? better ignitions, brakes, suspensions... Replace Those alibaba parts with American manufactured or re-manufactured... Shopping American Feels Better, Right? Happy Thanksgiving... |

My new EBR is still DOA after 400 miles. I have tried a number of fuel pumps off Ebay and so far it looks like the stock Carter is the only pump that fits the stock holder. Carter says it is a proprietary OE only pump. Tried a few different Walbro pumps but all are about 1/4" to tall. I could modify the stock carrier but will do as a last resort. I sure had fun for 398 miles though! |

This guy on Facebook has a pump (and some other stuff) for sale, that is likely your best bet if you can't source a brand new one https://www.facebook.com/groups/289943317829883/pe rmalink/777372655753611/ |

I've had the "new engine fault several times with no ill effects. Mostly after shutting the engine off during a "hot" day, then restart. Occasionally after getting off the freeway on a hot day. The "fault" will come on while sitting at a traffic light. Once the ignition is shut off, it does not show up in the "fault" list. Again still continues to run "apparently" fine after the "new engine fault" in my RX. Mike |

Remove the battery from under the rider seat. Look for the 4 pin fuel pump connector hiding under the wire harness. Unplug it and inspect the plug connections. If it looks like this one, use a pick tool to take the connector apart and open up the tab so it makes a solid connection again. In case the pic gets lost for whatever reason, I posted it over here as well. http://ebrforum.com/showthread.php?1275-Fault-code -P0087 |

Symptoms are like what you describe. Running fine down the road and it just simply dies like someone hit the kill switch. Everything is lit up just fine and it will not start back up. |

Well, I have had the whole back of the bike to bits and back together and all is working well. The pins on the connector were not as bad as photo but were not perfect either. I will be thrilled if the bike works well, I do enjoy it. |

I checked my fuel pump connectors, both appear to be fine. Thanks for the info about doing the check. My "New Engine Fault", only seems to happen on hot days in traffic or at a stop light. No apparent difference in the way the engine runs. The fault clears itself as soon as the ignition is shut off. Mike |
